On Today’s Show

➢A guy in Medicine Hat, Alberta recently started something called The 40 Hot Meal Project, where businesses buy meals from restaurants and donate them to food banks.  So it helps feed people AND keep restaurants open.  He started it a month ago, and it’s already a hit. Businesses have already spent $44,000 and donated over 4,000 meals.

➢ There are arts and crafts and then there’s this. A man in Brantford, Ontario, allegedly used diaper boxes to create fake license plates. Police posted about the man on Twitter, sharing photos of his homemade license plates. They say the 37-year-old faces several charges including driving without legal plates or a license as well as driving while suspended.

➢ There’s a guy named Stefan Thomas in San Francisco.  And he has a digital wallet with 7,002 Bitcoin in it . . . which means it’s worth around $234 MILLION.

But Stefan has a serious problem.  The private keys he needed to unlock his account are on an encrypted hard drive.  And Thomas LOST the password to that hard drive.

You only get 10 guesses at the password before the hard drive permanently encrypts its contents and can’t be unlocked.  And Stefan has already made eight wrong guesses.

So he only has two more shots to figure out his password . . . or he’s out $234 MILLION forever.  And since Bitcoin is decentralized, there’s no “get my lost keys” option.  You either have them or you don’t and you’re out of luck.

➢ A huge nudist festival is set to go ahead despite concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. For the past 5 years, more than 8,000 nude revelers have been gathering over the first weekend in February on the southern coast of Mexico. The Festival on the country’s only legal nude beach. Despite the country having recorded more than 1.4 million cases of the deadly disease, with over 130,000 COVID-related deaths in the past year, the hotly-anticipated event is expected to go ahead as planned. Town officials have agreed the festival can proceed as long as the country’s protocols are met.

➢ The record for the most expensive trading card EVER just got smashed.  A 1952 Topps

MICKEY MANTLE card was purchased for $5.2 MILLION.

The buyer was Rob Gough, an actor and entrepreneur who owns the DOPE clothing and CBD line.

The previous record was set in 2020, when somebody paid $3.93 million for an autographed 2009 MIKE TROUT draft prospects card.

(On a related note, a “Batman” #1 comic book from 1940 sold for $2.2 million.  That’s the most anyone’s ever paid for a Batman comic.)

What Are the Products You’re Not Willing to Compromise On?

There are plenty of times where it makes sense to save money on something instead of buying the expensive option.

And actually, according to a new survey, more than half of people say they sometimes go for a cheap or generic option when they’re buying something to save money.

Luke Combs Opens Up About His Battles with Anxiety

I never thought of LUKE COMBS as being the anxious type.  He seems so laid back.  Well, surprise to me.  He’s had anxiety issues since middle school.  He talks about it in an interview with DAN RATHER.

Quote, “It’s a unique form I have called Purely Obsessional OCD.  [But] my version are thougts that I play over and over in my head.  It’ll be something about my health.  I’ll be worried that I’m about to have a heart attack or a stroke.

“It becomes this very obsessive thing that you never have an answer to.  That’s the awful part of it.  You have to teach yourself to become comfortable knowing you’ll never get an answer and that it’s a super uncertain thing.”

Luke’s episode of “The Big Interview with Dan Rather” airs tomorrow night at 8:00 P.M. on AXS TV.  One more thing:  Are you still on the fence about buying a pair of Luke Combs Signature Crocs? You shouldn’t be.  DIERKS BENTLEY wears his while flying his plane, feeding his pets, driving his car, doing a coffee run, and hanging out in the snow.

DIERKS BENTLEY HAPPY TO ‘BRAG ON’ LATEST SINGLE

Dierks Bentley is a big fan of his latest single, “Gone,” and he’s not shy about saying that. It’s one of the few songs he’s recorded over the years that he didn’t have a hand in writing, so he says that gives him license to sing its praises. [“It touches on a little bit of way we can all relate to but I just love the groove. I love the way it feels. One of the good things about not writing the song is I can brag on it. It’s just written well. It’s well, well-written with a great groove. It’s fun to listen to and I just wanted to put something out there that you enjoy listening to. You don’t think too much about it. It just feels like a great song.”]

“Gone” is the debut single from Dierks’ next studio project.

87-Year-Old Willie Nelson Got His COVID-19 Vaccine

WILLIE NELSON got his COVID-19 vaccine at a drive-up clinic in Cedar Park, Texas on Wednesday.  He’s 87 years old, and suffers from the lung condition COPD, so there’s no doubt he’s at high risk.

Still, his wife Annie made it clear they didn’t jump the line.  She told Rolling Stone, quote, “We made sure that he wasn’t cutting anybody.  In fact, the healthcare workers were kind of angry that we had waited so long.”

She added that she’s been “insanely type A” about keeping Willie safe.  Quote, “Stuff doesn’t even come into the house unless it gets sterilized.”

The clinic got a little PR out of it too.

They took photos of Willie in his mask GETTING the shot . . . and posted them on Facebook with the caption, “Getting your COVID vaccine is ‘Willie cool.’  [We] encourage everyone to continue to get routine tests and signup for a vaccine.”
