➢ An 18-wheeler hauling millions of bees overturned on a highway in Texas on Sunday.  And the huge swarm made it impossible to clean up the wreck, so they had to call in exterminators.  (Here’s a clip that includes a cop calling it in and saying people were rolling their windows up.  And then an exterminator talks about how aggressive the bees were.)

➢ Talk about a cool discovery. Rupert Ellis lives in Cornwall, England, and says he believes his house is haunted, and recently found a vault door behind one of his walls while trying to hang a poster. He thought the find was strange, as he had left the framed poster leaning against that same spot for over a year. He says the walk-in vault was used for storing mine and mineral maps, and at some point it was bricked up and plastered over. He adds that when he first moved in he used to get woken up by lots of banging at the same time each night, and friends who stayed with him have reported hearing footsteps.

➢ Annie Murphy is supporting Toronto’s Encampment Support Network. The “Schitt’s Creek” star auctioned off her very first red-carpet dress. The proceeds raised will benefit ESN, as well as another “awesome charity.” ESN is a volunteer-run network supporting people living in homeless encampments throughout the city. Murphy shared an update revealing the dress sold for $7,000 USD.

➢ “Bridgerton” author Julia Quinn says the only reason her books became a Netflix series is because Shonda Rhimes ran out of stuff to read while on vacation, and just happened to stumble upon them.  (From “The Tamron Hall Show” on Monday, January 25, 2021)

THE MAN WHO INVITED THE WORLD TO DINNER

People are celebrating the life of a guy named Jim Haynes who passed away in his sleep this month at 87.  He was born in Louisiana, but lived in Paris for 40 years.

And he was known as the man who invited the WORLD to dinner.  He started throwing weekly Sunday dinner parties in the late ’70s that anyone could go to.  People just had to contact him and he would put them on the list. He didn’t cook himself but instead invited guest chefs to cook a smorgasbord type meal. All he asked was for a donation at the end of the night to keep the dinner parties going.

In 40-some years, he hosted around 150,000 people

FOUR RANDOM FACTS

  1. Mount Everest has gotten taller . . . it’s up to 29,031.7 feet, two feet higher than 16 years ago.  It could be because a major earthquake in 2015 shifted things.

  1. The guy who founded the Spalding sporting goods company is Albert Spalding. . . and he’s in the baseball Hall of Fame.  He was a pitcher in the 1870s.

  1. The Tour de France started as a publicity stunt in 1903 to promote a daily sports newspaper called “L’Auto”.

  1. FedEx almost went under back in the ’70s in their early years . . . they only had $5,000 in the bank and needed to pay off $24,000.  They’re still around because the founder took the last $5,000 to Vegas, gambled it on blackjack, and won $27,000.

GOOD NEWS

cleaning lady in New York lost her job during COVID, and had to move in with her sister after working at the same upscale apartment building for 20 years.  But everyone who lives there loves her.  So they pooled their money . . . and moved her into the PENTHOUSE.

It’s a newly renovated four-bedroom with two massive rooftop terraces.  And they covered her rent for TWO YEARS.  We’re not sure how much it is, but the average rent in Manhattan is $3,800 a month.  So it cost a LOT more than that.

When she showed up, she thought the building manager hired her to clean the place.  But instead, he showed her around . . . handed her the keys . . . and she broke down in tears.  And the whole thing is on video.

Drunk Guy Steals a Floating Tiki Hut and Is Captured by the Coast Guard

Here’s one of those “life comes at you fast” moments.  One minute, you’re enjoying a drink in a tiki hut, the next minute, you’re a wanted pirate on the high seas.

There’s a 26-year-old guy named Tyln Morlang from Independence, Missouri.  And he was in Key West, Florida this week.

On Wednesday morning, he was drunk and found his way onto a floating tiki hut . . . there’s a company that has these tiki hut-style charter boats with a bar on them.

And . . . Tyln turned on the ignition and drove off.

The U.S. Coast Guard wound up tracking him down off the coast of Key West.  He was arrested for felony grand theft.

Guy Arrested for Robbery Has a Curly Sharpie Mustache in His Mugshot

This is going to be a hard mugshot to live down.

A 28-year-old guy named Tyler Cribbs from Astor, Florida was arrested earlier this week for stealing a friend’s wallet and phone.  And in his mugshot . . . he has a curly black mustache drawn in SHARPIE on his face.

There’s no word on where the mustache came from . . . it looks like something someone would draw on your face as a prank when you passed out after drinking.

GETTING THE JAB DONE:
Conspiracy theorists aside, everybody wants the COVID-19 vaccine. And some in the Los Angeles area are so enthusiastic about it that they’ve been camping out or lining up at vaccination sites before dawn, in hopes of scoring leftover vaccines.

This comes after stories surfaced of vaccines being administered to bystanders who aren’t technically eligible yet, if there are excess shots left at the end of the day. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health says that there are no “official standby lines”, and that it “does not advise residents to show up at vaccination sites in the hopes of receiving a leftover vaccine.”

On average, there is a less than 10% no-show rate for those with legit appointments. But that means about 30 people per day ARE vaccinated at clinics through these informal lines.

BROTHERS OSBORNE’S FANS HELPED SHAPE THEIR LATEST ALBUM

Brothers Osborne‘s latest album, Skeletons, really puts the spotlight on what John and TJ do best, and that is perform live. They chose songs that would feel more like a live show, but as TJ tells us, they had to learn over time what would resonate on stage with their fans. [“We learned a lot about ourselves over the last couple of records, and I think we kinda learned about just honing in on what we’re about, and we learned that really from our fans and going out and performing and seeing things they responded to and resonated with, which wasn’t always the things we thought they would, so you never really know until you go out and start playing, and so with this record, I think just knowing a lot of our audience has really resonated with (helped shape our new record).”]

JASON ALDEAN TO DEBUT NEW VIDEO DURING STRIPPED-DOWN LIVESTREAM TONIGHT –

Jason Aldean will debut the new music video for his single “Blame It On You” during an interactive livestream, Wolf Moon Bourbon on the Rocks with Jason Aldean, at 9 p.m. ET at wolfmoon.vye.live. Tonight, marks this year’s first full moon of the year. Jason will perform a stripped down set before the release of his video. The clip will be available on Jason’s official YouTube page following the livestream.

[“So “Blame It On You” was a song that I got, it was actually written by a couple of guys in my band, Kurt Alison and Tully Kennedy, my guitar player and bass player. And it was just one of those things that was just really different for the record that I thought we were kind of missing. It kind of reminded me a lot of a song “Girl Like You” that we had where it kind of starts off down and you almost wonder is it going to be a ballad and then the chorus kicks in and it turns into ‘rock & roll’ so it was one that just kind of grabbed me right off the bat and I’m really glad we cut it, glad it’s the new single.”]

A limited number of tonight’s ticket holders will be randomly upgraded to the VIP experience for Wolf Moon Bourbon on the Rocks with Jason Aldean featuring a post-show virtual hang with Jason.
