On Today’s Show
February 2, 2021 9:35 am➢ We’re taught to say something if we see something, but that doesn’t mean we always know what it is we’re seeing. A dog-walker was performing her job in North East England recently when she saw what she thought was a big human toe poking out of the muddy ground.
Police searched the area with dogs, but they soon discovered the toe was actually just the narrow end of a potato sticking up. Police posted about the find on Facebook, and many say it does in-fact resemble a human toe, but you can be the judge.
➢ Have you ever heard a dog that shrieks like a banshee? This four-year-old pug mix does, and you can listen to the shrieking, here.
➢ A mother tried to teach her baby to say “mama.” The kid couldn’t swing it, but the family’s dog could. Listen to that, here.
➢ A guy in Oklahoma had extra time on his hands last year because of the pandemic. So he spent four months turning his van into the Mystery Machine from “Scooby-Doo.” He says he just wanted to make people smile. And now he’s using it as a mobile vending machine, with part of the proceeds going to charity. (Here’s the “Scooby-Doo” theme song.)
➢After being spurned by Donald Trump in his bid for a pardon, Joe Exotic is moving on to the next POTUS, and keeping the faith that President Biden will grant his freedom. Exotic says he has more confidence in Biden regarding criminal justice and prison reform, and claims he watched a TV special on VP Kamala Harris, leading him to believe she can “help clean up the corruption in the DOJ and other agencies.” As for his feelings about Trump, Exotic says he always looked up to him for being a straight-shooter and never backing down, but that all changed after January 6.

And a regular customer named Tanner Langley felt bad to see him driving around in an old, beat-up 1993 Oldsmobile.
So, he got other people in town to pool their money . . . ended up with $19,000 . . . and bought him a 2017 Chevy Malibu. They also covered the insurance, and gave him an extra $2,500 to help out.

COLD WEATHER MYTHBUSTING:
✗ You lose most of your body heat from your head: Nope. Where your body loses heat is closely related to surface area, and the head has only about 9% of the body’s surface area. On the other hand, if the rest of you is all covered up and your head isn’t, then you DO lose most of your heat from your head…
✗ To warm up, sip coffee or brandy: Caffeine and alcohol hinder the body’s ability to produce heat. They can also cause your core temperature to drop. Instead, drink warm water, or something with sugar.
✗ Cold weather can cause you to catch cold: Can we put this to rest right now? You catch cold from a virus, not from cold temperatures.
✗ Rub your fingers or toes to warm them: Wiggle them instead. If exposed skin (including your face and ears) becomes cold, cover it with a warm hand until it feels better. Rubbing can cause tissue damage.
✗ You should resist shivering: Shivering means that your body is trying to warm up, and that’s good. In fact, shivering can triple your body’s heat production.
✗ If I’m cold, you must be cold too: Age, gender, fitness level and acclimatization all determine when you “feel” cold. And women generally feel cold before men do, possibly because they have less heat-generating ability.

When Is the Last Time You Used Cash?
Cash was already on the way out BEFORE the pandemic. Now? We can ask questions like THIS.
A new survey asked people: When is the last time you can remember using cash?
And the most common answer is . . . more than a month ago, with 32% of the vote.
14% of people used cash within the last month . . . 27% within the last few weeks . . . and 23% within the last few days.
This isn’t that surprising, but the younger someone is, the less likely they are to have used cash within the past month.
And overall, 79% of people say the pandemic has decreased how often they use cash.

MORGAN WALLEN IS MORE DRAWN TO SAD SONGS
Morgan Wallen may seem like he’d be more drawn to a party song rather than a ballad, but the opposite is true. He tells us: [“For me, I’ve always gravitated towards the more personal, moodier type songs. I think I’ve just always been that way and it comes more natural to me. I have to purposely write a song that’s up-tempo and party, but I like both. I think it’s good to have that balance, especially for me as a performer. I’m not gonna get up there and just be sappy the whole time so I need both.”]
Both types of songs are included on Morgan’s new album, Dangerous: The Double Album, which has dominated the pop and country albums charts for the past two weeks.
KENNY CHESNEY WANTED TO ‘GIVE NARRATIVE’ OF ‘HAPPY DOES’ TO THE WORLD
Kenny Chesney’s latest hit is “Happy Does.” He tells us the song’s message is one he felt needed to be out in the world. [“When I recorded it, and put it on the record, it fit perfect. Then I heard it one day and thought, ‘you know what? I need to give this narrative and this song to the world. For that reason, it’s really important to me.“]
“Happy Does” is the third single from Kenny’s Here And Now album.
This is a cool story about KENNY CHESNEY’s song “Happy Does”. One of the co-writers, a guy named Greylan James, idolized Kenny as a kid. He actually met him when he was eleven and playing banjo at a benefit show . . . and Kenny gave him this advice. Quote, “Stay in school. Learn how to write songs.”
