On Today’s Show

➢ A video has gone viral of a Texas woman TACKLING a guy she saw peaking in her daughter’s bedroom window.

He was evading the cops, so she went linebacker on the creep and brought him to the ground.  It was captured on a squad car’s dashcam.

(Here’s the video.  And here’s a collection of comments from sports experts weighing-in on the woman’s tackling skills.)

➢ A guy in St. Louis made the local news for “braving” a snowstorm to get corn dogs for his wife.  Someone watching recorded it and laughs along.  (Listen to it all, here.)

➢ Mashed potatoes are pretty basic.  But according to TikTok, you’re doing it WRONG.  And one of those ingredients should be replaced . . .

A woman in San Antonio blew up online after she claimed that you shouldn’t boil potatoes in water . . . you should use CHICKEN STOCK instead.  Or you can use beef stock depending on what type of meat you’re serving. Other people tried it and said she’s right, they do taste better that way.

➢ Scientists are going to attempt something in the next few weeks that no one has ever done. They’re going to fly a helicopter on Mars. The robotic aircraft is named Ingenuity, and its core is about the size of a softball. For the past seven months, the device has been rocketing toward the Red Planet inside a rover called Perseverance. After traveling at nearly 25,000 miles per hour, they are scheduled to touch down on Martian soil TODAY

➢ Kevin Hart’s personal shopper allegedly stole more than $1 million by making unauthorized purchases with Hart’s credit cards. He first started working with Hart in 2015 when he was hired to obtain several items for the actor through his personal shopping business. After that,he kept his credit card numbers “with the understanding that he would only make authorized purchases,”. But according to prosecutors, he went on to make more than $1 million worth of “unauthorized charges on those cards”. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

Mechanic makes chilling discovery after woman brings in her car for a check-up

Breaking up with a partner might mean you also need to change your password. A new survey found that one-quarter admitted to logging into an online account belonging to a former flame, so they can track their real-time location. Invasive methods like these were accomplished through apps that record geolocation. Similarly, 30% revealed they have secretly logged into an ex-partner’s social media account at least once since the breakup. Another 23% admitted they are still doing so.

A mechanic’s distressing video showing how a woman allegedly had a secret tracker installed on her car by an ex-boyfriend has been viewed more than 1.8 million times. The clip has served as a warning to others, who commented to thank the man for taking her worries seriously. He says: He then shows himself under the vehicle looking at the cars underside, where he discovers a small device near the wheel.

FOODS CREATED BY ACCIDENT:
⇒ Popsicles:  An 11-year-old soda left his soda-making equipment out on the porch on a cold night in 1905. Morning came, and he found that his mixture had frozen, capturing the stirring stick upright. Voila! Almost 20 years later, he applied for a patent for “Pop’s Sicles”.

⇒ Chocolate Chip Cookies:  A lodge owner ran out of baker’s chocolate, so she grabbed a bag of chocolate morsels, assuming that they would melt and blend with the cookie dough. They didn’t. It wasn’t long before people started to come over to her Massachusetts lodge just for the cookies.

⇒ Nachos:  Ignacio Nacho Araya, a restaurant manager in Mexico, was visited by 10 hungry military wives. When his efforts to find the chef failed, Nacho improvised. He covered tostadas with grated cheese and broiled it. The women loved his creation, the “Nacho’s Special.”

⇒ Cheese:  Centuries ago, an Arabian merchant journeyed across the desert, taking with him a supply of milk stored in a pouch made from a sheep’s stomach. The heat of the desert and enzymes from the pouch curdled the milk, which he ate and loved.

⇒ Cheese Puffs:  In the 1930s, the Flakall Company in Wisconsin had a machine that crushed grains to make livestock feed, and corn kernels were used to reduce clogging. The machine’s heat made the kernels puffy as they fell from the machine as waste. A man, who obviously enjoyed snacking, picked up these ribbons from the ground, added seasoning… and a new treat was born. (And before he knew it, he had orange fingers!)

⇒ Coffee:  Hundreds of years ago, an Ethiopian goatherd noticed his goats were being unusually cheerful and energetic, and he soon discovered that they had been devouring the beans and leaves of a particular tree. The man tried them, and shared them with a monk who was having trouble staying awake throughout prayers. The monks loved the new drink, and its effects.

DAILY COFFEE LINKED TO LOWER RISK FOR HEART FAILURE

If you’re the type of person who drinks a cup of coffee each day, you may be in luck.

University of Colorado researchers found that having one or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day might reduce the risk of heart failure.

Penny Kris-Etherton, immediate past chairperson of the American Heart Association’s Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Council Leadership Committee commented on the findings, saying, “The bottom line: enjoy coffee in moderation as part of an overall heart-healthy dietary pattern that meets recommendations for fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat/ nonfat dairy products, and that also is low in sodium, saturated fat and added sugars.”

That has been scaled back to about 1,200 during the pandemic.

Luke Combs Apologized for His Past Use of Confederate Images

LUKE COMBS gave a sincere apology for his past use of confederate images on photos and videos.  This was during a panel discussion at the Country Radio Seminar.  He said, quote, “There’s no excuse for those images.

“I’m not trying to say, ‘This is why they were there and it’s okay that they were there.’  It’s not okay.  As a younger man that was an image I associated to mean something else.  As I’ve grown, I’m aware of how painful that image can be to someone else.  “I never want to be associated with something that brings so much hurt to someone else.  I apologize for being associated with that.  Hate is not part of my core values.”

MAREN MORRIS was also on the panel and she owned-up to her naive past.  Quote, “I’m from Texas.  This is just sheer ignorance and privilege, but I did not know that the rebel flag meant what it meant until I was 15 or 16 years old.”

Luke Combs has made the list of the 100 most influential people in the world, according to Time’s TIME100 Next list. He joins a who’s who of global superstars in their respective fields who are “poised to make history,” according to TIME.

TONIGHT (Thursday, Feb. 18th), Luke will share a live concert from his pre-pandemic

What You See Is What You Get Tour at 8 p.m. ET. The show took place at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. It will livestream for free on Luke’s official Facebook and YouTube channels.

Jimmie Allen’s Advice to New Artists . . . Keep Pumping Out Music

JIMMIE ALLEN was recently talking about how the music business is changing.  Back in the day an artist would record an album, go on tour to promote it . . . and then head back into the studio and repeat the process.

It’s a blueprint that some people still follow, but he’s convinced it’s on the way out.  Quote, “I’m not a fan of album cycles where you put out 12, 13 songs and you wait a year-and-a-half then put out music again.

“Listeners don’t want that, they want music now, cause if you’re not giving it to them, they’ll go to somebody that is.  Artists that can consistently put out music versus artists that are still on that old school album cycle . . . it’s done, it’s dated, let it go.”

He says it’s especially true for artists that are trying to get a career up and running.  Quote, “I feel like if you’re a new artist, and want to stay current, you gotta keep pumping music out.  You at least need to put out five songs a year, at minimum.”
