On Today’s Show
February 26, 2021 9:35 am➢ Armed thieves shot LADY GAGA’s dog-walker, and stole two of her French Bulldogs. Fortunately, the dog-walker will be okay . . . but the dogs are still missing, and there aren’t any suspects. Gaga is offering a $500,000 reward for the return of the dogs.
The American Kennel Club says dog theft is an increasingly big problem, and French Bulldogs are among the most popular targets.
They’re worth a lot of money, AND they’re relatively “easy to grab and run with.”
Not only has Lady Gaga put out a HALF-MILLION dollar reward for the safe return of her dogs, but now her “Machete Kills” co-star, Danny Trejo is on the case in L.A. He was on their NBC affiliate last night and said that he wants to help the police find the people involved.
➢ If you noticed your butter is a little harder to spread recently, you’re not alone.
A new inquiry has been launched looking into how the use of palm oil supplements in cow feed is playing into consumer concerns that butter has gotten harder.
Calgary food writer Julie Van Rosendaal says butter has become firmer — as evidenced by her own experience and that of hundreds of other social media users having the same struggles with softening butter in their own kitchens.
The Dairy Farmers of Canada has launched a working group to examine the use of palm oil supplements in cow feed.
➢ American Airlines is not denying that one of its planes encountered a UFO on Sunday on a flight from Cincinnati to Phoenix . . . and they say any questions need to go to the FBI. (Here’s the pilot reporting what he saw.)
➢ Packs of dogs in eastern Russia are inexplicably turning up pink and blue. The bizarre phenomenon has occurred in the area of the town of Dzerzhinsk, near an abandoned chemical plant that once manufactured an ingredient in a commonly used “Prussian blue” dye. Experts believe this detail may help explain why some pups are now blue through-and-through — including their droppings. The animals don’t appear to have been harmed physically and will remain under observation for about 20 days.
➢ On “The Dan Patrick Show”, Adam Sandler and Chris McDonald discussed the possibility of bringing back Happy and Shooter to do battle on the SENIOR TOUR in “Happy Gilmore 2”.
TODAY IS……………….
- “International Stand Up to Bullying Day”, a semi-annual event in which participants sign and wear a pink shirt to take a visible stance against bullying. (“Pink Shirt Day” was celebrated in Canada on Wed.)
- “Levi Strauss’ Birthday” (1829-1902), the man who created the first Levi’s blue jeans for California’s gold miners in 1850. Without him, many of us wouldn’t have a wardrobe.

ONTARIO PARKS
Ontario Parks has seen a huge spike in bookings already for 2021. You can book online to reserve a campsite up to 5 months in advance and people have been doing that in record numbers.
So far in 2021, they’ve seen almost 100% increase in reservations (bookings made between January 1 and February 5) over the same time last year!
Just in the first few weeks of 2021, campers have made 58,475 reservations, up from 29,504 reservations in the same period in 2020.
With double the number of customers attempting to make reservations during the months of July and August compared to last year, it is more competitive when trying to obtain a site. In many instances there can be hundreds of customers vying for the same site for the same arrival date.
These are our five busiest provincial parks:

FOUR RANDOM FACTS
- The most formal type of dress for men is “white tie,” not “black tie.” A white tie tuxedo requires a coat with tails, a white bow tie, and a wing collar.
- The first time “snowflake” was used in its current form to describe someone sensitive, fragile, and needing to be coddled was in “Fight Club”.
- Guinness officially says their beer isn’t black, it’s a, quote, “dark ruby red.”
- Horses can’t breathe through their mouth, only through their nose.

GOOD NEWS
A preschool teacher in Missouri named Robin Mach recently donated a kidney to a five-year-old student.
The kid’s Mom says she’s so generous, she wanted to help even more.
And right after the surgery, she asked what else she could do. (After the surgery, she asked if she could maybe do their laundry or something.)

GIVE IT A (SHORT) REST:
How can a nap be anything but a good thing? When it goes on too long, apparently.
Researchers from Guangzhou Medical University in China say naps lasting longer than an hour can increase the risk of developing heart disease. While the common view is that napping improves performance and counteracts the negative consequences of ‘sleep debt’, the new study found that tuning out for more than an hour during the day can pose a threat to the heart and can even lead to premature death from other causes.
Just the right amount of sleep, however, can be beneficial to the napper’s health. Study authors concluded that short naps, ideally lasting less than 45 minutes, can help improve heath. This is especially true for those who do not getting enough sleep at night.

- A 32-year-old guy gotarrested in Florida after he stole a firetruck, took it for a joyride, got on the radio, and pretended to be a fireman. The other firefighters could tell he wasn’t though, because some of the stuff he said didn’t make sense.
- This Flashback Friday from 1970 is a promotional video from AT&T introducing their new “Picturephone Service.” The devices are clunky, and the picture quality is horrible . . . but what’s fascinating is that they pretty much nailed how we’re using Zoom right now. DARIUS RUCKER SCORES A PERFECT 10
Darius Rucker charts his career 10th Number One hit this week with “Beers And Sunshine.” He co-wrote the song during the pandemic via Zoom and recorded it virtually from his home, which was a first for the singer. “Beers And Sunshine” is the lead single from Darius’ upcoming studio album.
We talked to Darius recently, and he told us that at this stage in his career, getting a chart-topping hit means more than it ever did. [“It probably means more to me now than it ever has. I’m 54 (laughs). I’m 54. It goes back to when Charles (Kelley) called me when George Strait retired and told me I was the oldest guy on Country radio. I’m 54 so just the fact that I might have another Number One’s crazy and when it hits it’s gonna be awesome! It’s better now, and after not really being on the radio for two years. I was basically gone with Hootie for two years. I didn’t know what was gonna happen when I came back and it’s great that I had a song like that that’s doing what it’s doing.”]
BRETT YOUNG IS LEAVING THE NEXT GENDER REVEAL UP TO HIS WIFE
Brett Young and his wife, Taylor‘s, last gender reveal was done with a baseball bat which, when it made contact with a paper mache baseball, exploded to reveal a cloud of pink dust. Now that Brett and Taylor are expecting their second child, they’re on the fence about how to creatively reveal this baby’s gender.
Brett tells us: [“We are going to do something when we announce the gender. I don’t think we’ve decided on how. We’re not gonna do the baseball again. We really like the idea of a golf ball, but Chris and Lauren (Lane) beat us to it. So, we’ll see. You know, I’m only creative when it comes to the song writing side of things. That’ll be Taylor‘s department.”]
Brett and Taylor are expecting baby number two this summer. Their daughter, Presley, is 16 months old.
FAST FACTS
Brett sits inside the Top 10 and climbing with his latest hit, “Lady.”
It’s the debut release from Brett’s upcoming studio album.

In 2017, she performed “Softly and Tenderly” at the CMA Awards in memory of the 60-plus people who were killed during a mass shooting at Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas in October of that year.
Carrie’s My Savior album will be released on March 26th.
