On Today’s Show
March 3, 2021 9:35 am➢ A woman in Detroit created a backyard ice rink for neighborhood kids to skate and play hockey on. Her local fire department heard about it and showed up with a water truck to help her make enough ice.
➢ A guy on TikTok is convinced there’s one question you should always ask during a job interview. He saw it on a YouTube “career” video . . . and people in the comments section swore by it. He used it too.
Here it is. Quote, “Based on what we’ve talked [about] today, is there anything that’s giving you hesitancy with hiring me?” He said it works because if the employer DOES have a concern, it gives you the chance to fight for yourself.
➢ Roombas recently got a software update, and it’s causing problems for some models . . . and making them act like they’re DRUNK.
The Roombas spin around randomly . . . bump into furniture . . . move in strange patterns . . . get stuck in empty areas . . . and have trouble finding their way home to their docks.
And according to the company that makes Roombas, it could be SEVERAL WEEKS before they can fix the software and sober these Roombas up.
➢ The popular video game “Frogger” is being turned into a competition series at NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock. “Frogger” will feature 12 outrageous obstacle courses, or “crossings.” These physically demanding challenges will see contestants dodge treacherous traffic, leap over snapping gators and hop over hungry hippos to conquer the course. The series, which was ordered for 13 episodes, is based on Konami’s popular “Frogger” franchise, which debuted in 1981 as an arcade game.
➢ Eddie Murphy was on “The Tonight Show” and said he never planned on doing a sequel to “Coming to America.” Here he is explaining what changed his mind. (From “The Tonight Show” on Thursday, February 25, 2021.)
TODAY IS……………….
- “Cold Cuts Day”, You might pop deli meats into sandwiches, you might have them drizzled with oil and with a few slices of cheese – whatever way you like them, today is all about celebrating the tasty meats that are somehow even tastier when served up in slices.
- “Canadian Bacon Day”, as it is known in the United States (“back bacon” to Canadians) It is actually a little more like ham than bacon.
- “World Wildlife Day”, the 7th annual, proclaimed by the UN. This year’s theme is “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet” LINK: https://www.wildlifeday.org/

Six Dr. Seuss Books Won’t Be Published Anymore Because of Outdated, “Hurtful” Imagery
The company that controls the Dr. Seuss catalog has decided to pull six of his books, because they contain images of Asians and Africans that they say “portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong.”
The six are: “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” (1937), “McElligot’s Pool” (1947), “If I Ran the Zoo” (1950), “Scrambled Eggs Super!” (1953), “On Beyond Zebra!” (1955), and “The Cat’s Quizzer” (1976).
The existing stock of these books is selling like hot-cakes on Amazon, and people are already trying to capitalize on the hysteria . . . offering to sell THEIR copies for THOUSANDS of dollars.
Dr. Seuss Enterprises says they made this determination after consulting with educators.
Those who are obsessed with “cancel culture” . . . both in favor and against it . . . are fixated on the idea that Dr. Seuss is suddenly “racist,” but that’s not what Dr. Seuss Enterprises is saying.
They say it’s about protecting and preserving Dr. Seuss’ legacy and relevance for generations to come. They add, quote, “Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure [the] catalog represents and supports all communities and families.”
The thinking is that these books contain outdated depictions that come across differently today than they were intended when they were originally published.
For what it’s worth, Dr. Seuss’ step-daughter Leagrey Dimond says she wishes they’d just add a disclaimer to the six books, and keep them in publication.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS
- Can openers were invented in 1858 . . . which is 48 years after cans. During those years in between, the most popular way to open cans was smashing them with a hammer and chisel.
- Your rectum has similar cells to your mouth . . . which is why spicy foods can burn on the way out as much as they do when you’re eating them.
- There are only two companies with a perfect “AAA” credit rating: Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft.
- Antarctica gets about 44,000 tourists a year . . . that’s up from 5,000 tourists a year in 1990.

A Guy Calls the Cops for a Break-In . . . But Doesn’t Hide His Massive Drug Supply
A 42-year-old guy named John Harbison in Phoenix called the cops on Sunday night to report a break-in at his apartment.
When the cops got there, they didn’t find any signs of a break-in. But they did find John’s HUGE STASH of DRUGS . . . because he didn’t bother to hide it before they got there.
John had 6,000 fentanyl pills, a bag of meth, scales, baggies, needles, and almost $5,000 in cash sitting out on a table in plain sight.
He was arrested on several felony drug charges.
The Cheeto Dust in a Woman’s Teeth Links Her to a Burglary
The orange dust on Cheetos doesn’t wash off easily . . . it makes things stay VERY orange for a very long time.
Someone tried to break into a house in Tulsa, Oklahoma through a window last week, but ran off when she heard people inside the house.
The cops came, and as they searched the area around the window, they found the burglar had dropped a bottle of water and an empty bag of Cheetos.
They searched the area, and found a woman named Sharon Carr hiding in the shadows. And when she opened her mouth . . . the cops saw CHEETO DUST in her teeth.
So she was arrested for first-degree burglary.
Cheetos ran an ad a few years ago where a guy interrogated his family to find out who’d been eating his Cheetos, and used a black light to look for Cheeto dust. It turned out his wife and both kids were guilty, and so was a random cat.

- There’s a TikTok videoblowing people’s minds right now . . . because it reveals that the “chance of rain” in a weather forecast doesn’t mean what we all thought. 30% does NOT mean there’s a 30% chance it’s going to rain . . . it’s based on a formula that multiplies how likely it is to rain by how much of the area the rain is going to cover. (This meteorologistexplains it better than the TikTok girl.)

DOLLY PARTON GETS COVID VACCINE
Dolly Parton received her Moderna Covid vaccine yesterday (Tuesday, March 2nd) at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She shared a picture of herself receiving the injection, as well as a video encouraging everyone to get the vaccine on social media. Moderna is the vaccine that researchers at Vanderbilt were working on thanks in part to Dolly’s $1 million donation last year.
In the photo, Dolly is getting the vaccine from her friend and Vanderbilt researcher Dr. Naji Abumrad. She captioned it with, “Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine.”
The video also shows Dolly getting the shot, and asking others to do the same. She said in part: [“I’ve been waiting a while. I’m old enough to get it and I’m smart enough to get it, so I’m very happy that I’m gonna get my Moderna shot today, and I want to tell everybody that you should get out there and do it, too. I even changed one of my songs to fit the occasion. It goes, ‘Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m beggin’ of you please don’t hesitate/ Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, cause once you’re dead then that’s a bit too late (laughs).'”] SOUNDCUE (:32 OC: . . . bit too late (laughs).)
Other Country icons who recently got their Covid vaccine include Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn.
JORDAN DAVIS WON’T GO BACK TO HAVING A LONG BEARD
Jordan Davis is sporting a much more clean-cut look these days since he opted to drastically trim his signature beard back for his latest video, “Amost Maybes.” Jordan likes how he looks these days and tells us he probably won’t go back to having a long, bushy beard. [“I don’t think I’m going to go back to where I was at (with the beard). Now that I’ve shaved the beard, I get a lot of photos from fans from meet-and-greets or whatever, and even I look at some of those photos and I’m like, ‘Oh, what was I thinking? Like why did I have such a big beard?’ (laughs) I mean I even look at some of my wedding photos and I’m like, ‘Goodness gracious, that beard was massive.’ But I definitely like having a beard. I’ll never be a clean-shaven guy. So, maybe somewhere in between caveman and where I’m at now I think is a good spot for the beard.”] SOUNDCUE (:33 OC: . . . for the beard.)
