On Today’s Show

A 12-year-old in New York named Sam Keusch started a site last month called VaccineHelper.com.  And it’s already helped over 1,600 people get appointments.

A pilot who crashed in the Amazon jungle has been rescued after spending 36 days living off birds’ eggs and wild fruit. Antonio Sena, 36, lost four stone during his ordeal and search and rescue teams gave up the search for him in Brazil after they were unable to find the wreckage. But he came across a group of chestnut pickers by chance five weeks after he left the wreck of his plane to find help.

There’s a real estate listing in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania that’s going viral right now on TikTok.  A couple bought an abandoned elementary school, refurbished it, and turned it into a mansion.  And it can be yours for $2.4 million.

They turned classrooms into bedrooms, an arcade, living rooms, and more.  The old cafeteria is now the kitchen.  They refurbished the gym, so you have an indoor basketball court.  There’s a garage with room for 30 cars.

And some of the bathrooms still have the urinals in them.

Overall, you get a “house” that’s more than 14,000 square feet on an 11.4-acre lot.

They listed the house last August and haven’t sold it yet . . . but now that it’s getting some publicity, maybe some millionaire will want to buy it?

Last night on “American Idol,” a contestant named Funke Lagoke collapsed due to dehydration.  She went down hard, face first.  As scary as it looked, she was treated at a hospital and released, and she’s returning to the show.  (The vocals are Funke, and the judges are consoling her duet partner Ronda Felton at the end of the clip.  From “American Idol” on Monday, March 22, 2021)

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Chip & Dip Day”. While North Americans might pick ‘Sour Cream & Onion’ or ‘Salt & Vinegar’ chips, the top flavors for ‘crisps’ in the UK include ‘Roast Beef & Mustard’ and ‘Smoked Ham & Pickle’. The Swiss like ‘Paprika’, while Thais choose ‘Prawn’, and in Egypt ‘Kebab’ is popular. The best dip? ‘Hot Bean with Jalapenos’ … or is it?

  • “Puppy Day”, the idea is to save 10,000 homeless puppies in a single day by encouraging adoptions at dog pounds and rescue centers. _____________________________________________________________________________

Monopoly Is the Next Toy Getting a Modern “Refresh”

Hasbro announced that MONOPOLY is getting a, quote, “refresh.”  They’ll be changing all 16 Community Chest cards for the first time in 85 years to try to bring them more in line with modern life.

Quote, “Covering topics like beauty contests, holiday funds, and life insurance, there is no denying the Monopoly game’s Community Chest cards are long overdue for a refresh.”

You can vote on new cards on their website.  Some possibilities are, “You help build a new school playground then you get to test the slide, collect $100” and “Blasting music late at night?  Your neighbors do not approve.  Go directly to jail.”

The new cards should be an official part of the game by the end of the year.

GOOD NEWS

To some people this would seem like torture, but this woman likely broke a Guinness World Record.

The record she broke: most half marathons run on consecutive days. In February she ran a full marathon followed by 14 days of half marathons.

Andrea Amaro is a mixed martial arts fighter and says she started her record attempt with a full 26.2 mile run at the El Paso Marathon and followed it up by running 13.1 miles each day for the next 14 days.

She is submitting evidence from her runs to the Guinness World Records for official recognition.

She says her aim with the record attempt was to raise awareness of mental health issues.

PLANE FORCED TO LAND AFTER AGGRESSIVE CAT ATTACKS PILOT IN MID-AIR

Just think about how much trouble an angry house cat can cause and imagine it on an airplane. A Sudanese Tarco airline passenger plane was carrying passengers bound for Qatar’s capital, Doha, on Wednesday (February 24th) when it had a mid-air emergency. The plane had been in the air for about a half-hour when a cat entered the cabin and aggressively attacked the crew. All attempts to restrain the cat failed, and the pilot made the decision to turn the plane around and return to the Sudanese capital. It’s since been revealed that the aircraft had spent the night stationed at a hangar at the Khartoum airport ahead of the flight, suggesting the cat likely sneaked aboard during cleaning or an engineering review and likely fell asleep, hiding in the cabin.

DOG CAUSES A CAR ACCIDENT

A Jeep crashed into a building in Wisconsin . . . and the owner said his dog did it by knocking it out of park.  (Here’s the building’s manager Tony Scimeca and the owner of one of the shops, Megan Lundahl.  Her shop is “The Pearl of Door County.”)

DROP WHAT YOU’RE READING:
A new drug that promises to help “people of a certain age” read without needing reading glasses has been submitted to Food and Drug Administration in the US for approval.

The eye drops – called AGN-190584 – are a pilocarpine solution which doesn’t treat the symptoms of presbyopia, an age-related condition that causes gradual loss of the eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects.

They help treat its symptoms. Instead of targeting the lens, the drops make the eyes’ pupils smaller, creating a pinhole effect that increases depth of focus. AGN-190584 is expected to be approved by the end of this year, according to a statement from Allergan Eye Care.

Do You Use Google to Settle Arguments? Here Are the Most Common Topics We Do It With

Have you ever used Google to settle an argument?  A new survey found it’s REALLY common now.

77% of us have felt a wave of satisfaction when we googled something we weren’t sure about, and found out we were right.  Here are the most common topics we use Google for when we disagree . . .

  1. Historical events.
  2. Politics.
  3. What year something happened.
  4. Spelling.
  5. The actor or actress who was in that movie you can’t remember.

The poll also found the average person googles the answer to something five times a day.  And 44% of us think we’re an “unofficial expert” on at least one topic, because we’ve googled it so much.

Kenny Chesney Is Postponing His Stadium Tour to 2022

It’s time to curb our enthusiasm about all the summer concerts coming back.  KENNY CHESNEY is postponing his entire stadium tour until 2022.  This is the second postponement.  It was originally going to kick-off in 2020.

This is due to the massive size of the Chillaxification Tour.  After talking to medical experts, stadium people, and local officials across the country there were too many variables to overcome, and they would’ve had to drastically reduced the seating.

He says, quote, “I can’t play knowing I’d disappoint a portion of No Shoes Nation who wouldn’t be able to go.  There’s no way around that.”

The 2022 version WILL have all the same stadiums, but he’s going to put together a completely new show with a new name, a new line-up, and a lot of new music.  The details are still being finalized.  Find out more at KennyChesney.com.

Matthew McConaughey on Being in Trisha Yearwood’s “Walkaway Joe” Video

Before he was a star, MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY played the hot guy in a TRISHA YEARWOOD video.  He talked about it on a recent “Kelly Clarkson Show”.  Quote, “Well, ‘Walkaway Joe’ I think it was early 1992.

“I was going to college here at the University of Texas.  This is before ‘Dazed and Confused’ . . . and I was trying to get odd jobs in front of the camera when I could.  And I got cast in that music video to play Joe.

“Things are going well [in the video] where we end up at the last stop.  She wakes up and Joe, myself, is nowhere to be seen.  Therefore the title, ‘Walkaway Joe’.”

The song features background vocals from Don Henley of the Eagles.  But he and Trisha didn’t film their scenes on the same set as Matthew.  Trisha talked about that in an interview back in 2014.

Quote, “Matthew was cast from local talent in Austin, Texas, where the footage was shot.  The performance with Don Henley was shot in Nashville, so I never met him.  If he ever wants to be in another Trisha Yearwood video, I won’t make him audition.”

BRETT YOUNG IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT TURNING 40

Today Brett Young will turn 40. For some, that could be a daunting milestone, but for Brett, he’s just thankful. He tells us more: [“It’s been kind of strange how unaffected I am by it. 30 didn’t affect me, but when I turned 30, I thought, yeah, but 40’s going to feel weird. I think you’re just as old or as young as you feel and life is so good right now. We’re so blessed. We’re at a very early stage in starting our family.  And so, it’s just nothing to be scared of for me. I think it’s just something to embrace, and that just really means more experience in my years, I guess.  And so, I’m not really too worried about it.”]

Brett and his wife Taylor married in 2018.

They have a daughter named Presley, she is 17 months old.
