On Today’s Show
April 26, 2021 9:35 am➢ A guy near L.A. named Rene Compean went hiking recently and got stranded overnight. He’d texted a photo to a friend of his legs dangling off a rock overlooking a canyon. Then later, he said he was lost and that his phone was dying. So rescuers started searching, and posted the photo in case anyone knew the area. And a random guy named Ben Kuo saved the day.
Ben has a weird hobby, where he enjoys looking at random photos to see if he can figure out where they were taken. So he got to work . . . figured out the general area . . . told the cops . . . and they found Rene.
➢ There’s a guy in Taiwan who got married last year. And there are some local labor laws that gave him eight paid days off from his job at a bank after getting married.
But once those eight days were over, he divorced the woman . . . and married her again to get eight more days. Then he did that again. And again. The guy wound up taking off 32 out of 37 days thanks to his four “marriages” all to the same woman.
The bank where he worked caught on REALLY quickly to what he was doing and they told him they’d only pay him for the first eight days. So he filed a complaint with a labor board.
And the board actually took his side . . . and so did an appeals board. They both said that even though what he did was unethical, it was legal . . . the guy just found one hell of a loophole and took advantage of it.
So the guy got his back pay, and the bank was fined $700.
➢ A former hotel worker shared a few secrets that you may not know. Listen to her talk about them, here. (They almost never wash the comforters . . . the “busy” front desk workers spend a lot of time playing computer games and watching Netflix . . . and there are cameras in ALL of the public areas so they WILL see you doing your weird and freaky things in places like the hallways and pool.)
➢ After a hard year, “Survivor” is finally coming back. Host Jeff Probst has announced that the iconic reality show is heading back into production. In a Twitter video, Probst said: “Fiji has invited us back to their beautiful country to shoot season 41. We have all of our Covid protocols in place so that everybody in Fiji will remain safe, all of our crew will be safe and of course, our players…” Originally intended to start production in May 2020, season 41 had to be put on hold due to the pandemic. No word yet on when it will air.

An MLB Player Hit a Monster Home Run That Landed Exactly Where His Parents First Met?
BO BICHETTE is an up-and-coming star with the Toronto Blue Jays, and last Wednesday, he hit a CRAZY home run at Fenway Park in Boston. It went over the Green Monster, and OUT OF THE PARK. (Here’s video.)
That’s wild, but THIS takes it to another level . . .
The ball fell onto Lansdowne Street . . . bounced around . . . and came to rest right in front of a vacant building. That building used to be a Gold’s Gym . . . and at that gym, 30 years ago, his parents first met.
It was the summer of 1991. Bo’s dad DANTE BICHETTE met his future wife, Mariana. Dante was also a baseball player. He was with the Milwaukee Brewers at the time, and they were in town to play the Red Sox.
Someone retrieved the home run ball for the Bichette family, so they can tell everyone about the time Bo hit a ball to the place where his parents first laid eyes on each other . . . and where his dad worked up the courage to ask his mom out.

GOOD NEWS
For over a decade, a 74-year-old woman in Louisiana named Jessie Hamilton worked as a cook for the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at LSU.
Her last year was 1996, but some of the frat guys keep in touch with her. And they recently found out she was still working two jobs to pay off her mortgage.
So 91 of them pooled their money. And for her birthday this month, they surprised her with $52,000.
Around 45 grand of it will cover her mortgage. The rest is pocket money.
Hamilton had planned to keep working until the home was paid off but now has plans to retire and visit Hawaii.

Top Five Home Improvement Projects We’ve Tackled During COVID-19
A new survey found 81% of millennial homeowners have tackled at least one home improvement project since last March. And half said it was because they just needed something to do.
Here are the top five projects they’ve taken on . . .
- Painting a wall, room, or piece of furniture in your home. A third of people who’ve done a project in the last six months said they’ve painted.
- Improving your yard, or working on a landscaping project.
- Re-caulking in the kitchen or bathroom.
- Re-tiling the kitchen or bathroom.
- Plumbing fixes.
The top projects we still HOPE to tackle this year include new lighting . . . bathroom and kitchen renovations . . . improving the patio . . . and replacing windows before it gets too cold.
78% of us have added a home improvement project to our to-do list during the lockdown. But they don’t always go well. An average of three things go wrong with each project. And 1 in 10 are total disasters.

Blake Shelton Would’ve Warned His Younger Self About the Mullet
BLAKE SHELTON is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his first Number One hit, “Austin”. He was asked what advice he’d give to his younger self, and he went with a carefully worded, very thoughtful message about life’s lessons.
Just kidding, he went straight to the silly joke. Quote, “I would have told that kid, ‘Hey man, the mullet’s not as cool as you think it is.'”
He did admit that he and the mullet should NOT have burned the candle at both ends back then. Quote, “I would’ve told myself to get more rest. When I started I was 24 and lived life to the max. It’s probably why I ran out of battery so soon.”
He’s only 44, but he’s already in old man mode. Quote, “These days I’m just kind of a slow slug. Luckily I got the job on ‘The Voice’ and I get to sit in the red chair most of the time for a living.”

- It takes 27,000 trees to make all the toilet paper the world goes through in one day.
MONDAY APRIL 26TH
- The Academy Awards were held last night. Here’s a quick montage of the big winners. (Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Animated Feature, Best Actor/Actress, Best Director, and Best Picture. From the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, on Sunday, April 25, 2021.)
Legit highlights at last night’s “Oscars” were few and far between, but for my money, Tyler Perry won the night when he called on Americans to MEET IN THE MIDDLE while accepting the Humanitarian Award. (Here’s a clip. From the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, on Sunday, April 25, 2021.)
- PIT 1 – BOS 0 PHI 4 – NJD 3 SO NYR 6 – BUF 3 TBL 4 – CBJ 3 OT

- A restaurant in Philadelphia called South Philly Barbacoa hasbeen feeding people AND keeping people working during the pandemic. Early on, the owners converted another restaurant they own into a service called The People’s Kitchen that keeps chefs employed. And a year later, they’re still handing out up to 300 free meals a day.
- People have grown accustomed to receiving lots of delivery boxes now. Here’s a fake commercial from “Conan” if you’d like some more.

Chris Janson Tried to Put Out His House Fire with Buckets of Water
In an interview with “People“, CHRIS JANSON gave the frightening details about his house fire earlier this month. As you may have heard, everyone got out safely, and no one was injured. Here’s what happened.
The whole family was asleep when his wife Kelly heard a beep coming from downstairs, so she woke him up. He said, quote, “If it weren’t for her hearing that faint ‘beep, beep’ of the fire detector, it could have been very bad.”
The fire was in his basement studio right below their bedroom. He called 911, and Kelly and the two kids evacuated.
Then he tried to put out the fire with huge buckets of water. Quote, “I went into survival mode. This was not a little fire. This was a legit, ‘7-foot flame, taller than me’ fire. It was a ‘melting my ceiling fan onto my ottoman’ fire.”
“[It] melted my ottoman and literally created a campfire essentially right in the middle of my studio room. Thankfully, it didn’t burn the house.”

RASCAL FLATTS’ MUSIC LASTS ‘THROUGHOUT THE CHANGING TIMES’
Rascal Flatts fans were understandably upset when the trio announced that last year would be their last together, and that they were going their separate ways. Jay DeMarcus tells us what fans had to say: [“We got a lot of people that were talking about how much our music had meant to their lives at monumental occasions in their lives. You know, we’ve had families go on road trips to ‘Life Is A Highway,’ and graduations to ‘My Wish,’ and people getting married to ‘Broken Road’ and people getting divorced to ‘I’m Movin’ On.’ So, we ‘re a band for every occasion. It was wonderful to see the outpouring of love for our music and what we’ve meant to their lives. And that’s been one of the great things about this band, I think, is we’ve always been able to find songs that really do resonate and last throughout the changing times.”]
