On Today’s Show
May 11, 2021 9:35 am➢ The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Health Canada are warning shoppers about a major recall involving a certain mushroom product sold at well-known grocery stores.
They’re recalling Golden Mushroom brand Enoki Mushroom from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
A Metro spokesperson confirmed the product has been recalled from Food Basics stores.
A Sobeys spokesperson said the recalled mushrooms were sold at Safeway, Sobeys, and FreshCo. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
➢ A Detroit pizzeria owner was sick of seeing people getting tickets for parking in a poorly marked handicap zone near his shop. So, he took it upon himself to clearly mark the area with blue paint to help people avoid getting the $150 fine. (The guy’s name is Tony Sacco.)
➢ A farmer in Belgium caused a stir after inadvertently redrawing the country’s border with France. A history enthusiast was walking in the forest and noticed the 130 pound stone marking the boundary between the two countries had moved 2.29m (7.5ft). The farmer, apparently annoyed by the stone in his tractor’s path, had moved it inside French territory. The news was met with smiles on both sides of the border. The mayor of the Belgian village of Erquelinnes told a news crew that he is “happy” that it made his town bigger, while the amused mayor of the neighboring French village of Bousignies-sur-Roc, said: “We should be able to avoid a new border war.” The stone dates back to 1819, when the border was first marked out. The farmer will be asked to return it to its original location.
➢ Back in March, an elderly married couple broke out of their assisted living home in Lebanon, Tennessee. They both have dementia and Alzheimer’s, so they were in a locked wing.
But . . . it turns out the husband used to be in the military and he was trained in Morse code. That trained him to memorize patterns . . . so he’d listen to the staff punch in the key code for the door, and eventually he cracked it so he could get out.
The couple was found about 30 minutes after they escaped. They were walking down a road a few blocks from the home.
The home was fined $2,000 by the state for allowing the couple to escape.
➢ Did you know that TOM ARNOLD’s sister was basically the real-life Walter White?
Her name is LORI ARNOLD, and she was such a big-time drug dealer in the Midwest that they nicknamed her The Queen of Meth. (???) At one point she was earning up to $200,000 a week. After spending a total of 15 years in prison, she finally cleaned up her act, and now there’s a show about her on Discovery+ called “Queen of Meth”.
Tom is trying to get a SCRIPTED series about Lori going, and he’d like MARGOT ROBBIE to play her.
COUNTRY MUSIC NOTE
Gretchen Wilson‘s debut album, Here For The Party, was released in 2004.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS
- The most abused Social Security number ever in the U.S. has been used in fraud by at least 40,000 different people. It belonged to a secretary at a wallet company.
In 1938, Social Security cards were new, and the secretary’s boss wanted people to see how they looked in a wallet. So every one of their wallets came with a sample Social Security card inside . . . with her number on it.
- Tetanus isn’t caused by the rust on rusty nails . . . the rust is just a perfect breeding ground for the bacteria that causes tetanus.
- Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan. The Disney parks in Florida cover 43 square miles, and Manhattan is 22 square miles. It also means Disney World is roughly the same size as San Francisco.
- If you took all the duct tape sold around the world every year, it would go around the equator more than 12 times.

GOOD NEWS
A California couple, Chad and Amy Kempel had struggled for years with infertility and pregnancy loss and had begun to think that they would never have the large family they’d dreamed of.
Then along came quintuplets Lincoln, Grayson, Preston, Noelle, and Gabriella.
Soon after finding a jogging stroller that would seat all five babies, Chad began to think about setting himself a challenge his children could be a part of.
So, Chad put the babies in their stroller at the starting line of the Modesto Marathon in California, and completed the entire 26-2-mile run in four hours, 42 minutes and 49 seconds, setting a new record for the fastest known time while pushing a quintuplet stroller.

BETCHA CAN EAT JUST ONE:
An Australian man has become the first ever to complete a pub’s 5kg burger challenge. On the weekend, “James” became the first to earn a place on the “Legends Board” at the Kitchener Hotel in Cessnock.
After 55 others before him failed, James devoured the $60 burger weighing 5kgs (11lbs) in under 30 minutes. He managed the feat, which many have called “impossible”, in 25 minutes and 37 seconds. And what did he earn for his gluttony? Aside from a full stomach and probably some serious heartburn?
The prize money for the eventual winner has slowly increased every time someone failed to put the whole meal away, so James walked away with a hefty $650, and the prize has now been reset to $100 for the next challenger. And just to make his feat even more ridiculous, James still had room for dessert. He ordered a double serving of cheesecake to wash down his main meal. PICS: https://tinyurl.com/px5w7xm5
TUESDAY MAY 11TH
No idea why today is the day, it doesn’t correlate with anything in the show’s archives. For the record, the “Twilight Zone” premiered on October 2, 1959, on CBS. It was created by Rod Serling, who not only came up with its concept and wrote or co-wrote 92 of its 156 episodes, but also hosted and narrated it. It was one of the first science fiction series, and also had elements of suspense, horror, psychological fiction, drama, and fantasy

KEITH URBAN AIRPORT SHOW
In case you missed it: KEITH URBAN was James Corden’s guest on a recent episode of “The Late Late Show” when James Corden asked him about his “worst gig ever”, he recalled the early days of his career, saying: “We played in…a tiny regional airport in Australia…My manager at the time…had done some very questionable deal to get us a couple of airline tickets…So we start playing, and a couple people came over…and a few more people [gather], and I’m like, ‘This actually is not a bad gig!’…And the next minute…all the bags start coming out…Everyone got their luggage and they just all left!”
