A Mom used her OWN Ring doorbell alert to invite her son over for taco night.  It’s because he never answers the phone but he DOES check on her doorbell alerts to see if she’s okay.  Listen to her invitation, here.

An 11-foot-long pet python escaped from a Japanese man’s home on Thursday in the country’s second-most populous city, prompting a search and sending shudders through the local community. The snake was kept in a cage in a second-floor apartment in the Japanese city of Yokohama, or so its owner thought. When he went home on Thursday evening after work, the man found the cage door open and his pet, a 28-pound reticulated python, was gone, according to police in the Kanagawa prefecture.

Local authorities have issued an emergency warning, asking people to stay away from grassy areas. A snake research and exhibition center has advised pet owners to take their pets indoors.

A four-year-old boy out of Brooklyn, with a bit of a sweet tooth, went a little overboard when he bought almost $3,000 worth of “SpongeBob SquarePants” popsicles. To make matters worse the treat is completely non-refundable!  A bit of a silver lining though, a good Samaritan set up a GoFundMe page and has already paid off the debt for the rogue Amazon order.

Seth Rogen tried to meet Beyoncé at the Grammy Awards but got bodychecked by her security.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Tulip Day”, celebrated in several countries to welcome Spring. It’s a good excuse to drop by your favorite florist and pick up a tulip bouquet — but don’t expect their floral scent to enhance your home … tulips are virtually fragrance-free.

  • “Apple Pie Day”, The first apple pie recipe was printed in England in 1381.

Four Times It Might Make Sense to Wear a Mask After the Pandemic

There’s finally some light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.  But before you throw out your supply of face masks, listen up.  Here are four times you might still want to wear a mask even after the pandemic ends . . .

  1. If you’re sick during flu season.  Face masks don’t just protect us from COVID, they help stop the spread of other respiratory viruses like the flu.  And if you get sick, wearing a mask is one way you can help protect those around you.

  1. When you’re in crowded, indoor spaces.  Being in a crowd, indoors, with poor ventilation is one of the fastest ways the coronavirus spreads.  And even after COVID-19, we can still catch infections like the flu and the common cold whenever we’re in crowded indoor spaces.

  1. When there are new variants or when your immunity is lower.  COVID-19 might never fully go away . . . it could continue to mutate like the seasonal flu does every year.  So if you want some protection before the booster vaccines come out, masking up might be the way to go.

  1. While traveling.  Infections and vaccination rates can vary between different parts of the U.S. and between countries.  So until we reach herd immunity, it’s probably a good idea to wear a mask when traveling to a higher-risk area.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS

  1. About two million years ago, there was a species of rodents that were as big as hippopotamuses.

  1. The three members of Lynyrd Skynyrdwho wrote “Sweet Home Alabama” weren’t from Alabama . . . Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington were born in Florida and Ed King was from California.  And the song was recorded in Georgia.

  1. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was almost cut from “The Lion King”.  But Elton Johnargued with the producers, got them to leave it in, and it ended up winning the Oscar for Best Original Song.

  1. A famous Canadian hunter named Francis Wharton shot a deer in the late 1960s, but didn’t have any teeth . . . so he made dentures out of the deer’s OWN TEETH and used those to eat it.

GOOD NEWS

A guy in Montreal stole a woman’s bike last week.  The owner tried chasing him but realized that was not going to work but then two women who were riding by on their own bikes saw it happen, and one was a retired cop.

They chased him for 17km . . .when another cyclist joined the chase and  called 911 during the pursuit . . . and got her bike back.

The alleged thief, likely exhausted from the ride, slammed into a police cruiser. He was quickly cuffed and hauled away by officers.

NETFLIX AND SHUFFLE:
Netflix has added the one feature that it seems everyone has been asking for since…we stopped getting DVDs via snail mail: “Shuffle”. Last week, Netflix announced that “Play Something”, the name they’ve given their shuffle feature, is now available for all users.

The streaming company says Play Something can perform a few tasks: it will either play a new series or film similar to one you’ve watched before, it can automatically play an episode or film you’ve already watched and may want to watch again, and it can play an episode from a show you’ve started but haven’t finished (picking up where you left off).

It sounds like she’s up for doing movies and sitcoms . . . especially movies . . . but for now, she plans to devote more time to producing, as well as being more involved with conservation, the environment, and animals. She’s also going to talk more about it with OPRAH on today’s show.  She said, quote, “[Oprah] stopped, and she didn’t have to [work] again, and she’s done a tremendous amount since then.”

MAREN MORRIS’ NEXT ALBUM IS ROOTSY, ‘EXTREMELY FUN’

Maren Morris is more than halfway done with her next studio album. She tells us it’s quite different from 2019’s Girl[“It’s a really uplifting record. I think I’m in a much lighter place in my life. I think that I’ve written the most just intimate songs. My last record was very pop-leaning and I think with this one I’m sort of coming back to this Texas rootsy style. It just feels like me but a very stripped down version of me, but it’s still extremely fun and energetic, so this would be a good record to drive to, to get ready to go out for a Saturday night to or even like cook to, it kind of like hits all those marks.”]

In the meantime, Maren is featured on her husband, Ryan Hurd‘s, latest single, “Chasing After You.” They recently performed it on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
