On Today’s Show

A Florida high school is getting heat after editing at least 83 high school girl’s yearbook photos to take out cleavage.  Here’s a parent and student talking about the situation.

A high-end auto shop in the U.K. has started customizing new cars . . . to make sections of them look RUSTY. They did it with a few panels on a brand new Land Rover, where two sections of the hood are covered in rust, plus two vents on the side.  So instead of the whole thing, it’s more like using rust as an accent color.

For the right price though, you can have your entire car rusted up if you really want to.  And they can seal it to keep that FRESH rust look.  Or you can leave it alone and let the, quote, “natural course of corrosion” continue.

It’s very difficult to play pool while on a yacht. Well, Bugatti, a company known for its exclusive sports cars, has unveiled their new luxury pool table that was designed to negate the rocking of a boat and remain level.

The $300,000 table relies on highly advanced technology to remain perfectly level in virtually any conditions, including on yachts. The table has an all carbon-fiber finish, while the frame is built out of machined aluminum and titanium. Oh, and it comes with carbon fiber pool cues.

Remember the classic viral video “Charlie Bit My Finger“?  The NFT of the video has been sold for $760,000… meaning, in theory, you won’t be able to find it on YouTube anymore.  (Here’s a clip from the “Charlie Bit My Finger” video.)

The man who brought Sebastian the crab to life in the 1989 Disney animated classic, “The Little Mermaid”, Samuel E. Wright, died Monday.  He was 74.  He battled prostate cancer the past three years.  Here is a blend of his two big songs.  (He was also nominated for a Tony for his role of Mufasa in “The Lion King”.

Wright once told the “L.A. Times” that he kept a collection of little red crabs in his home and, quote, “every time I pass one I genuflect and say, ‘Thank you for the house, my kids’ education and the fact that we don’t have to eat cheese grits anymore.'”

IF YOUR ALLERGIES ARE PARTICULARLY BAD THIS YEAR—THERE’S A REASON

If you suffer with seasonal allergies, you may have noticed they’re worse than usual this year, and it’s not just in your head.

According to recent research and forecasting, 2021 is shaping up to be a brutal allergy year, just like 2020, 2019, and 2018 were before it. The length and intensity of pollen seasons are growing, in large part due to climate change. Experts say if the planet keeps warming up, miserable allergies will likely be the norm.

Between 1990 and 2018, pollen concentrations in North America increased by 21 percent. Other factors can also contribute to making airborne pollen even more volatile. Internist and immunologist Dr. Tana Elliott explains, “Pollution like diesel exhaust and nitrogen oxide can lead to the creation of super pollen and very irritating air that triggers sneeze and mucus production.

Pollen can bind to diesel exhaust and it becomes super pollen—traveling longer distances and being bigger—making it a more potent allergen.”

Some experts even say that because we spent most of the last year indoors, we had less exposure to allergens, and so any tolerance we built up in previous years may have waned slightly.

DANDY DANDELION WHACK FACTS:
Dandelions are not weeds but are from the same family as sunflowers.

Every part of the dandelion is edible.

One cup of dandelion greens equals 535% of the daily recommended Vitamin K and 112% of Vitamin A.

A dandelion seed can travel up to five miles (8km) before it lands.

The name ‘dandelion’ is taken from the French word “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth, referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves.

Until the 1800s, people sometimes removed grass to plant dandelions.

When Was the Last Time You Tested Your Smoke Detectors?

When was the last time you checked your smoke detectors to make sure they’re working?  If you can’t remember, it’s been way too long . . .

You’re supposed to check them once a month.  But a recent poll found two-thirds of us haven’t, including 28% who haven’t checked them in three months or more.  Here are five more quick stats about fires, and the risk factors you should know about . . .

  1. Around 90% of us think we could protect ourselves in a fire.  But the rest of these stats don’t really back that up.

  1. 1 in 4 people don’t own a fire extinguisher.  And 1 in 10 people who do have one don’t know where it is right now.

  1. 60% have never done a fire drill at home, or talked to their family about what to do.

  1. 42% of us haven’t cleaned the lint filter in our dryer in a while.  Which is a common thing that starts fires.

  1. And 1 in 5 people said they blow fuses or trip their breaker at least every few months, which could be a sign your system is overloaded.

The top things that cause electrical fires include:  Old wiring . . . bad outlets, appliances, and light fixtures . . . extension cords and power strips that are overloaded . . . and space heaters that are too close to things like curtains.

ERIC CHURCH HAS A ‘HELL OF A VIEW’ AT NUMBER ONE

Eric Church charts his 10th career Number One hit this week with “Hell Of A View.” The song is included on his new triple album, Heart & Soul.

Eric co-wrote “Hell of A View” with Casey Beathard and Monty Criswell while he was holed up with a group of hit songwriters in the mountains of North Carolina last year.
