The owners of a rooster refuse to get rid of it despite $10,000 in fines, because they claim they’re a commercial farm even though they’re in a residential area.  They plan to fight it in court and haven’t paid the fines yet, but it keeps going up $100 a day.

(Here’s the rooster’s owner, Mike Johnson.)

A couple of weeks ago a New Hampshire couple used 80 pounds of explosives for a gender reveal.  Here are the 911 calls from the unhappy neighbors.

As lockdown restrictions begin to ease across the world, people are clearly excited to get back out and celebrate. One pub in Britain decided to take advantage of the moment and raise money for an important cause.

The Packhorse pub in England auctioned off the first beer poured inside the premises for over a year. The proceeds from the sale will be donated to two different organizations: the Dorothy House Hospice Care and the Mountain Way, a charity that specializes in helping military personnel dealing with PTSD.

As we continue to see the easing of lockdown measures, including the relaxing of mask mandates and bans on social gatherings, lipstick makers say sales are showing signs of turning around.

Lipstick sales hit $34.2 million in the four weeks ending April 18, up more than 80% from the same period a year earlier. The biggest lipstick retailer in the U.S., Walmart, says sales were a standout in the quarter ending April 30, with shoppers showing a strong preference for smudge-proof lipsticks that don’t rub off as easily inside a mask.

Someone Sent a Bunch of Drunk Texts to an Aquarium, and They Responded

An aquarium in South Carolina posted screenshots after a guy drunk texted their “Ask an Aquarium Educator” hotline and asked a bunch of questions about marine life.

It apparently happened last Wednesday, and he sent seven different texts between 10:30 and midnight.

His first one said he was at the corner of Market Street and Meeting Street, which is in downtown Charleston where all the bars are.  And he wanted to know what the area would have looked like 10,000 years ago.

He also asked what marine biologists are fascinated by right now . . . what they disagree about . . . why seahorses like to grab onto stuff with their tails . . . and why people say you should only eat oysters in months ending with “R”.

And the aquarium actually responded to ALL of his texts the next morning.

They explained that seahorses grab things with their tail because they’re bad swimmers and get tossed around by the current.

And it’s a little safer to eat oysters in months ending in “R” because they’re colder months . . . when it’s warm, oysters are more likely to have bacteria that can make us sick.

The guy replied around noon after he sobered up and thanked them.  He also joked that his wife should be happy he drunk texts aquariums instead of other women.

GOOD NEWS

Here’s a great update on a cool story:  Latonya Young was an Uber driver in Atlanta in 2018.

And she mentioned to a passenger named Kevin Esch that she couldn’t re-enroll at Georgia State, because she still owed them $700 in back tuition.

So he paid it for her.  And when she promised to pay him back, he said just graduate.

A year later, she got her associate’s degree in criminal justice, and Kevin went to her graduation.

And earlier this month, he was there again to see her get her bachelor’s degree.  She also wrote a book called “From Broken to Blessed”.

Guy Steals a Cop Car, Gets into a Chase . . . Then Steals Another Cop Car

There’s a 33-year-old guy named Xavier Cummings in Cocoa, Florida.  And on Thursday, he was wandering on the highway and the cops stopped to see what he was doing.

But as they were trying to talk to him . . . he hopped in the running police car and took off.

There was a high-speed chase, and eventually another cop ran him off the road and into some woods.

But when a bunch of cops pulled up to try to grab him . . . he managed to run past them, jump in a DIFFERENT running cop car, and steal that one too.

So there was ANOTHER chase, and this time when they stopped him, I’m thinking no one left their car running.

He was arrested and is facing a ton of charges.

Guy Stole an Ambulance . . . But Was Later Spotted By the Off-Duty Paramedic

Last Monday, a 34-year-old guy stole an ambulance in Reading, Pennsylvania.  The first responders were on a call at the time, but fortunately, the patient’s condition wasn’t life threatening. He drove the ambulance about 45 minutes south . . . where he was spotted by the same paramedic who normally drives that ambulance.  He was off-duty at the time, and was apparently just out riding his motorcycle.

He called the police to tip them off.  And they eventually caught Raymond, although he crashed into a tractor trailer before they could stop him.  No one was hurt, but the ambulance was banged up.  Fire Chief William Stoudt explains what happened.

HIDING SNACKS

We all have our favourite snacks, but how many like them so much that they hide their stashes to keep others from eating it?

It’s actually more than you’d think. A new survey of 2,000 Americans found that nearly half — 48 percent — say they hidden their favourite snacks around the house.

Explaining why, 53 percent of those who’ve hidden snacks say it’s because those they live with would “eat them all” if they knew where they were, and 46 percent said they just “don’t want to share.”

The OnePoll survey further found that among those who said they’ve hidden snacks, 69 percent said they still do it, and 72 percent said someone’s found their stash, leading them to find new hiding spots.

NOAA PREDICTS ANOTHER BUSY ATLANTIC HURRICANE SEASON

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasters are predicting the U.S. will have another “above-normal” Atlantic hurricane season this year.

The group is predicting a likelihood of 13 to 20 total named storms, with six to 10 of those named storms becoming hurricanes.

They say three to five of the named storms are likely to become major hurricanes, defined as Category 3,4, or 5 with winds of 74 mph or higher. Last year was record-breaking, with 30 named storms and 12 landfalling storms in the continental U.S.

TIM McGRAW SAYS HIS KIDS AREN’T INTERESTED IN HIS MUSIC

Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard have a top 15 hit right now with “Undivided.” And while Tim has lots of fans that consider him a superstar, at home with his daughters, that not the case at all. We asked Tim about playing his songs for his family, he told us this: [“I play it for my wife, and she usually hears some of the songs I’m gonna do and she listens to the mixes and stuff as we’re going along. The kids, they don’t really care anything about what I’m doing, as long as they’ve got a credit card and they’re meal tickets paid at the cafeteria, they’re usually pretty happy. But every now and then they’ll ask to hear something, or I’ll send ‘em something that I think that they might like, or something that might remind me of them, I’ll send it over to ‘em. But they usually wait till it comes out, then their friends tell ‘em about it. Then they’ll go, “Ehh, that’s okay, it’s just dad.”]

He told us this: [“I think these eight songs work really well together, just because they were created in such a close period of time I think I was in the same head space on all of ‘em, and I got to cover one of my favorite John Prine songs to kind of kick this EP off. But, yeah, (I’m) really happy with how all these eight songs kind of blend with what I was going through during the pandemic.”)

Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry Are . . . Related?!

COURTENEY COX and MATTHEW PERRY got married on “Friends”.  And technically, they could do it in real life, too . . . even though the genealogy website “MyHeritage” found them to be 11th cousins.

The connection was made between Courteney’s mom, Courteney Copeland, and Matthew’s dad, John Bennett Perry.  They share distant relatives named William Osbern Haskell the Third and Ellen Haskell, who were married 500 years ago.

Ellen came to America in 1635, and her sons Roger and William are direct ancestors of Courteney and Matthew.

The head of research at MyHeritage says, quote, “We went into this line very deeply . . . We found a lot of records that support it, and we have confidence that they are related.”
