On Today’s Show
May 31, 2021 9:35 am➢ A Florida woman saved a kitten from a busy highway and paid $160 to Uber the kitten to a rescue group 80 miles away. Here’s Kylie Gross and the Uber driver talking about the rescue.
➢ A woman named Angela Holloway says she’s been doing the grocery shopping for her mom and step-dad during the pandemic, and that she usually separates the pet food from the rest of the groceries. But Holloway recently got confused when her mom told her they had eaten “a really lovely dinner of absolutely gorgeous pâtéand baked bread.” It turns out the couple, originally from the U.K., are currently living in France, and no one had noticed they were actually eating cat food on baked bread.
They had apparently struggled with the French labeling on the packaging, and overlooked the photo of the cat on the can. Holloway says she burst into laughter when they showed her the empty can of cat food. Luckily, nobody got sick from consuming the pet food.
➢A man named Jeremy, from Ohio, recently took to Reddit to share a letter he got from a neighbor. It accuses Jeremy of bringing down “all of the property values” in what once was a “beautiful street with pretty homes and well-kept lawns.” The issue: Jeremy’s failure to weed his front yard. He admits he’s worked hard on renovating his property, but has neglected the large yard of his home in recent weeks due to stormy weather.
The letter goes on to suggest he hire a teenager to weed his property if his “work schedule keeps [him] from keeping [his] property manicured.” The letter ends with, “Spring is now here, and it is time to keep their neighborhood looking good.”
➢ TikTok stars Planb3e and Eric Howl are going viral after singing songs at strangers on the street and seeing who finishes the lyrics for them. Listen to them singing Gwen Stefani, Backstreet Boys, Miley Cyrus, and Will Smith songs with help from random people.
COUNTRY MUSIC NOTE
Tracy Lawrence was shot in a robbery attempt in a hotel parking lot on Music Row just after completing vocals for his debut album in 1991.
He went out to celebrate with a friend he had known since grade school. After a late night, he was dropping her off at the Nashville-area hotel she was staying at when three men encircled them in the parking lot as they got out of the car, pointing guns at them.
They gave the thieves their keys, credit cards and more than $500 in cash, but it soon became clear that robbery was not their only motive. When the men asked what room, they were in and forced them to walk toward the hotel, Lawrence knew he had to act.
“In my mind, the only reason for taking us to a hotel room was to rape her, they didn’t try to hide their faces. They would not have let us live. I decided that if I was going to die, I was going to die fighting.”
Lawrence lunged for the gun that was pressed to the back of his head as they walked toward the hotel, getting shot in the finger in the process. The other gunmen turned and also began firing. Lawrence took bullets in the hip, right arm and knee before dropping to the ground. His friend was able to get away as the men focused on Lawrence.
Doctors say the shot to his hip missed a main artery by a tenth of a millimeter. He’d have bled to death quickly had it struck.

HOW TO WAKE WITH MORE ENERGY – EVEN ON MONDAYS:
➢ Maintain a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends: Going to bed at 9pm on weeknights and 2am on weekends makes your body feel like it has flown across 5 time zones on Saturday morning, and again on Monday. This results in social jet lag, where your sleep time falls out of sync with social obligations like work or school.
➢ Don’t hit snooze: Those 10-minute naps don’t add up to the quality sleep you need because the alarm will go off before you get a chance to enter deeper stages of sleep.
➢ Avoid sleep aids: Medications like Benadryl and Advil PM help you fall asleep, but can also interfere with your ability to awaken feeling perked-up and ready to go the next morning.
➢ Skip the nightcap: Yes, it can help you fall asleep faster, but can lower your sleep quality, leaving you bleary-eyed the following day. It can also interrupt your sleep to get up and pee
➢ Try a gentle-wake sunrise alarm: There are a number of alarm clocks that mimic sunrise and gradually brighten, gently rousing you from slumber — rather than startling you awake, like a conventional alarm clock.

Five Free Ways to Deal with Allergy Season this Year
People with allergies will spend around $16,000 during their life dealing with them. So here are five FREE ways to help deal with allergy season this year . . .
- Stay inside during the worst part of the day. Midday and afternoon are usually when pollen counts are highest, so try to be indoors during those hours.
- Keep your car windows up. Even though a fresh breeze can feel good, keeping the windows closed helps limit the amount of pollen you’ll come into contact with.
- Wear your mask. We all have a bunch of face masks lying around these days, and they actually do a pretty good job at limiting allergy symptoms when you’re outside.
- Rinse off before bed. Changing your clothes, taking a shower, and washing your hair after being outside limits how much time you’ll spend with pollen on your body . . . and it also stops it from getting in your bed at the end of the day.
- Vacuum more. Pollen and other allergens can get trapped in your rugs and carpets, and vacuuming frequently will get those allergens out of your house.

Riley Green Makes Important Connections on the Golf Course
If you want to be a country star, you better be talented. Of course. You gotta put in the work too. And by work I’m talking about performing everywhere you can, building up a fan base . . . and playing golf.
I’m only half-joking on the last one. You need to make the right connections, which is something RILEY GREEN did on the golf course. Quote, “When I got to Nashville, that’s what all the record label guys did. A lot of radio guys [too].”
He still brings his clubs on the road so he can hang with the headliner, the other acts, and, yes, “important people” like us. And believe me, if you can get this crew out of the studio . . . score!
He adds, quote, “You do all these radio interviews and meetings, and you’re sitting in an office or a cubicle or something. But to be able to get out with somebody and enjoy a common hobby and just kinda talk like buddies is pretty neat.”

CARLY PEARCE APPRECIATES HER GIRLFRIENDS IN THE BIZ
Carly Pearce counts fellow singers like Kelsea Ballerini and Lindsay Ell among her close circle of friends. She tells us that having friends who have so many shared experiences in the same business is so valuable. [“To have artist friends who you can really, really relate to in this crazy life that we live is so special. We always say that you don’t really understand what it’s like to be an artist except if you are an artist. And so, I love being able to text those girls if I need advice, text those girls if I want to bounce a song off of them, or if I just wanna drink some wine.”] SOUNDCUE (:24 OC: . . . drink some wine.)
In addition to her female friends, Carly says she’s been spending a lot of time lately with Russell Dickerson, his wife, Kailey, and their baby boy, Remington.
Carly was recently announced as a special guest on Lady A’s upcoming What A Song Can Do Tour.
