➢  A dozen homeowners in Winnipeg are dealing with the aftermath of wet concrete exploding out of their toilets and plumbing.  The problem occurred when a sewer line was breached near the homes during some construction.  Here are the homeowners talking about the incident.

A 94-year-old Alabama woman received her high school diploma 79 years after dropping out.  Grace Lee McClure Smith left high school at 16 when her husband went to fight in World War II.  Here she is along with her granddaughter talking about the experience.

The price of a cup of tea could soar as climate change makes India’s monsoon season even more severe, warns a new study. Heavier rains will wash away crops in the country where farming makes up a fifth of the economy. This will put the tea industry at risk by reducing tea yields, as well as reducing the flavor and health benefits, say scientists at Brown University.

A “Wedding Crashers” sequel is in development. Reportedly, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are set to reprise their roles as ‘John Beckwith’ and ‘Jeremy Gray’. The new movie is due to begin production in Puerto Rico in August, but it is not yet known if Will Ferrell, Christopher Walken, Bradley Cooper or Jane Seymour will return for the project – although Isla Fisher and Rachel McAdams will be making appearances. The original 2005 film featured Wilson and Vaughn as 2 divorce lawyers who crash weddings in an attempt to seduce women. It was a hit with both critics and audiences.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Corn on the Cob Day”, Corn is an ancient plant native to the Americas. It is believed to have been first cultivated in Mexico and spread around the world via European explorers in the 15th and 16th centuries.

  • “German Chocolate Cake Day”, the first thing you should know about it is that it is not from Germany! It is named after American Samuel German, who came up with a dark baking chocolate for Baker’s Chocolate Company in 1852, which was named Baker’s German’s Sweet Chocolate.

Is This the Recipe for a Perfect Weekend?

It’s Friday!  Here are some tips from a lifestyle expert on how to have a GREAT weekend . . .

  1. Avoid work email and social media.  The weekend is the perfect time to disconnect  by avoiding ALL work email and social media.  And if that seems like too big of an ask, try it for just ONE of your weekend days to start.

  1. Spend time with family and friends.  After a year of isolation it’s time to start getting out there again.

  1. Go outside.  Here’s a good plan as the weather gets better:  Track how many hours you spend outside on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, then see if you can increase it next weekend and the weekend after.  It will likely do wonders for your mood.

  1. Exercise.  I don’t need to list off all the benefits of exercise.  And if you ALREADY exercise regularly, the weekend is a great time to add some variety to your routine, like going for a long hike or bike ride.

  1. Enjoy good food or drinks.  If you’re in the habit of rushing through meals on weekdays, the weekend should give you time to slow down and savor a great dinner.

  1. Do something you love to do.  Sometimes our hobbies and passions can take a backseat to chores, kids, and other obligations.  So carve out time this weekend to do something (or someone?)you truly love.

Americans Are Planning to Spend a Ton of Cash This Summer

2020 was hard on everyone, but it seems like a lot of us are feeling a wad of cash burning a hole in our wallets.

45% of people in a recent survey said they plan to spend MORE money this year . . . than the past TWO summers COMBINED.

And nearly half of people say they’ve saved enough cash over the course of the pandemic to open their wallets “guilt-free” this summer.

On the flip-side, 40% are worried they may spend irresponsibly.  And 72% say they’re fine putting their summer fun on a credit card, and paying it off down the road.

By the way, the #1 thing people plan to spend money on is VACATIONS.  Other popular picks include:  Going out to eat . . . clothing . . . home upgrades . . . and hosting family and friends at home.  (“Hoarding toilet paper” did NOT make the list, despite its rampant popularity last year.)

Brantley Gilbert Likes Watching NASCAR Drivers Duke It Out in the Pits

BRANTLEY GILBERT is never one to mince his words.  The man says what’s on his mind, and if you’re offended, sorry.  Well, somebody asked him what he likes about NASCAR, and he let it fly.

Quote, “Some of my favorite parts of racin’ probably shouldn’t be my favorite part.  I do like watching wrecks.  I think there’s a few of us out there.  It’s fun.

“You know, rubbin’s racin’ and when they get a little bit out of control you don’t want nobody to get hurt, but it never hurts my feelings when they get a little frustrated with each other and want to kind of duke it out in the pits.  It’s all in good fun.”

(There’s a great “Rubbin’s Racin’ moment in “Days of Thunder” when Robert Duvall says to Tom Cruise, quote, “No, he didn’t slam into you, he didn’t bump you, he didn’t nudge you, he rubbed you.  And rubbin’, son, is racin’.”)

MIRANDA LAMBERT’S HUSBAND INSPIRED LATEST HIT

Miranda Lambert‘s latest hit came about thanks to her husband, Brendan McLoughlin. She co-wrote the song, which Miranda tells us was definitely a result of her happy married life. [“So what inspired the song ‘Settling Down’ was really falling in love with my husband. You know, I got this travelling bone that keeps me on the road and I love what I do and I love to go camping and take my Airstream around the country, so falling in love and sort of realizing in 2020 that I was nesting a little more than I ever have been able to. ‘Settling Down’ couldn’t resonate more with me than at a time like that.”]

Brandon also stars in the video for “Settling Down” which was filmed at their Nashville area farm.

Miranda recently opened her new restaurant and venue on Lower Broadway in Nashville called Casa Rosa. She is the only female country entertainer to own an establishment in downtown Nashville.

LINDSAY ELL’S BROKEN FOOT IS THANKS TO HER DOG

Lindsay Ell was sporting a shiny silver boot to match her dress at Wednesday (June 9th) night’s CMT Music Awards, but it wasn’t the fashion look she was originally going for. Just a couple days before the awards, Lindsay took a spill while chasing her runaway dog and ended up with a broken foot.

Apparently her Pomeranian pup Hendrix tried to make a fast break. Lindsay told Entertainment Tonight, “She got out of the bus — we left the bus door open and she just went plummeting out of it. Naturally, like any dog owner, (I ran) after her, but I was in socks … I jumped from the top step of the bus onto the parking lot, and I just landed wrong.”

A trip to the doctor on Saturday (June 5th) confirmed that her foot was indeed broken.

Lindsay performed at the CMT Awards with Lady A to open the show.
