➢ A couple had lost out on 20 houses, so they waived their inspection . . . landed the house . . . and then later discovered several major issues, including an actual GARBAGE DUMP in the backyard. The property was near Peterborough.
The yard was covered in snow when they bought it, and when it melted, they saw that there was trash buried three to four feet deep, into the ground.
They need to pay around $100,000 to remove the contaminated soil and protect their drinking water.
In this case, an inspection may not have uncovered the garbage dump under the snow, but it’s definitely a reminder that you should actually SEE everything first.
➢ A woman on TikTok is going viral after showing people how to get butter on ALL of your popcorn at a movie theater, not just the top layer. Just put a straw in it, and pour butter down into the straw.
➢ Thanks to a new invention called the “Third Eye”, you may some day be able to text or browse Instagram as you walk, without the fear of falling into a fountain, and becoming the star a viral video. An Industrial design student has created a high-tech device that can be affixed to a person’s forehead to look out for obstacles as they walk, while their real eyes are glued to their smartphone. The Third Eye consists of a translucent plastic case that sticks to the wearer’s forehead with a gel pad. Inside the plastic eye are a small speaker, a gyroscopic sensor and a sonar sensor. When the gyroscope detects the user’s head is angled down, it opens the eye’s plastic eyelid and the sonar monitors the area in front of the user. When it detects an obstacle, it warns the wearer via the connected speaker.
➢ The #1 show on Netflix has been cancelled, but fans aren’t giving up without a fight. “Manifest” was cancelled by NBC this week after 3 seasons, 2 of which are available on Netflix, and Netflix could become the show’s new home.
Manifest premiered in 2018, following the crew and passengers of a commercial plane who suddenly reappear after being presumed dead for 5 years. While the show might have been losing fans on NBC, it still has a solid following because #SaveManifest became the #2 trending topic on Twitter, and many observers believe it would be a natural for the streaming service to pick up production of the show for its intended remaining 3 seasons.
COUNTRY MUSIC NOTE
Luke Bryan’s “Play It Again” claimed the #1 spot in 2014.

What can help a Sunburn?
A lot of people are dealing with SUNBURNS right now. We know because Google Trends put out a report that found searches for sunburn remedies are way up. Here are the top five sunburn fixes people are googling right now . . .
- “Does shaving cream help a sunburn?” Yes and no. It won’t magicallyget rid of it. But they usually have menthol, which has cooling effects and helps with inflammation.
- “Does aloe help?” Yes, aloe vera is the most popular thing people use. It helps with the pain, redness, and inflammation. And it makes your skin produce more collagen, so it heals faster.
- “Does lotion help a sunburn?” Yes, but it should be non-oil based. Anything with oil can trap the heat in and make it hurt more if you put it on too soon. So in general, wait a day with oil-based stuff. But moisturizing while you recover is a good idea.
- “Does coconut oil help?” Yes, maybe. But again, don’t put it on right away or the oil can trap in the heat.

With an average of just 10cm of rainfall per year, the country has been funding science projects from around the world to try to make it rain. One involves using catapults to launch small unmanned aircraft which zap clouds with an electric charge. The custom-built drones will soon begin tests near Dubai, with the idea that charging droplets in clouds will make them more likely to fall as rain.

LOTION THAT’S GOOD FOR THE OCEAN – AND YOU:
A new sunscreen breakthrough promises not only to protect your skin from the sun, it also helps keep it healthy, offers amazing anti-aging effects, AND is good for the environment.
Scientists have found the century-old medicine Methylene Blue, which once kept soldiers in the First and Second World Wars safe from malaria, could be the key in the future of new sunscreens. Eighty percent of today’s sunscreens use oxybenzone as a UV blocker.
The problem is that stuff speeds the destruction of coral reefs when it washes off in the water. Scientists at the University of Maryland have now found that Methylene Blue, which was also used in the 1930s to treat cyanide poisoning, has remarkable anti-aging abilities when combined with Vitamin C. How?
When the two antioxidants combine, they are able to repair and restore DNA damage caused by harmful sun rays. The researchers have now filed a patent application and are developing sunscreen prototypes that contain the medicine.

Miranda Lambert is excited about having her own Tex-Mex cantina called Casa Rosa. Located in downtown Nashville, it was packed over the holiday weekend. She helped design it as a place that women will love. Miranda tells us more: [“My friend and designer Phara Queen from Oklahoma came and helped me put my stamp on this place because I really wanted to make sure that it had some girl vibes and obviously a rhinestone saddle, because everyone needs one of those. All the girls doing exactly what I was hoping they would do, which was come there and party and have a place to feel safe and happy and really go Honky Tonkin.”]

LADY A ‘MIX IT UP’ WITH NEW SEVEN-SONG COLLECTION
Lady A’s new project, What A Song Can Do (Chapter One), features seven new songs all written during the pandemic last year. This smaller collection is a change for the trio, but as Dave Haywood tells us, they wanted to shake things up a little and give fans a new way to consume their music. [“We were just looking for new ways to engage the fans, and so we were thinking, how can we make an emphasis on this batch of songs, which basically are sort of our diaries of what we all went through in 2020. We want to make this first chapter really personal about what we went through. Just when they kind of consume that music? There’s still another part of the story that they get to hear and then they can really focus on that next chapter. So, you know, I mean, we’ve been doing this 15 years. I think we’re looking for ways to just kind of mix it up and let the fans have sort of different moments.”]
Lady A will release another collection of new music later this fall which will be Chapter Two of What A Song Can Do.

A Lot of People Don’t Know That Darius Rucker Was in Hootie & the Blowfish
Spoiler alert: DARIUS RUCKER used to be in a band called Hootie & the Blowfish. And if you think I’m crazy for even saying that, there are real, live people who are not aware.
He talked about it in a recent interview. Quote, “There are a lot of people that just have no idea. I saw a guy [online] say, ‘I was today old when I found out that Darius Rucker was the lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish.’ I’m like, ‘Really?’
Darius has such a distinct voice you’d think people would put two-and-two together. Nope.
He adds, quote, “[One time] I finished a show, and this guy comes on Twitter and he goes, ‘Man, the show was great, but how come you played so many Hootie covers? I didn’t know you liked Hootie so much.'”
(The first big Hootie & the Blowfish hit was “Hold My Hand”, which came out in 1994. Darius went country as a solo artist in 2008.)
