On Today’s Show
July 9, 2021 9:35 am➢ There has been perhaps no introduction this “America’s Got Talent” season that stopped the hearts and dropped the jaws of the judging panel like that of Matt Mauser on Tuesday — when the musician and father of 3 shuffled humbly onstage and stoically stated, “On Jan. 26, 2020, I lost my wife in the same helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant. … It’s been a rough year, but here I am.” He then dedicated his version of Phil Collins’s ‘Against All Odds’ to Christina, with his children standing in the wings. It seemed to take everything he had to get through the performance — which he almost did, until he broke into tears during that final “take a look at me now” line, and backed away from the microphone.
➢ Think YOU have bad neighbors? A 65-year-old guy in Vienna, Austria was at his apartment on Monday when he sat down on the toilet, felt a pinch . . . and realized a large SNAKE had bitten him in the privates.
His 24-year-old neighbor is a big snake guy, and has 11 of them. He thinks one got loose . . . made its way through the pipes of the building . . . and came up through the guy’s toilet just as he was sitting down.
It was an albino reticulated python, which are native to Asia and can grow up to 30 feet.
But they’re not poisonous, and luckily this one was only five feet long. The guy who got bit was treated for minor injuries. His neighbor might face charges for negligence.
➢ When the sun comes out, the clothes naturally come off – but a top sleep expert says you shouldn’t sleep naked during a heatwave, because it’ll actually make you hotter.
A Sleep Physiologist says that when it’s warm, whatever clothing you’re wearing acts as a sponge. If you sleep naked, your sweat actually collects on your body, and remains there. If you’re wearing light clothes, it soaks up any sweat you produce, which cools you off.
➢ David Schwimmer hated working with the monkey on the first season of “Friends”. But the guy who trained it says he was just JEALOUS. (The guy’s name is Mike Morris.)
During season one of “Friends”, Ross had a pet monkey named Marcel. In real life, David Schwimmer hated working with the two monkeys who played the part. Here’s why. (From “Friends: The Reunion” on Thursday, May 27, 2021.)

GARTH BROOKS ADDS GILLETTE STADIUM TO TOUR
Garth Brooks has added Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA to his ongoing Stadium Tour. The concert will be held on Saturday, October 9th, and this will be Garth’s first-ever concert at the venue as well as his first major concert in the Boston area in six years. Tickets will be on sale, Friday, July 16th at 10 a.m. ET at ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks.
Garth tells us he’s especially excited about this tour stop: [“One of the many reasons why I’m so excited about playing Gillette Stadium is this is kind of where it all began for us. The Krafts were the first stadium – and the first family – to come to us and say, ‘Hey, man – you can play stadiums, and you should play stadiums.’ It was very sweet. They believed in us years and years ago. Now it’s neat that it’s finally coming to fruition and the circle is kind of being complete.”]
This latest addition to Garth’s Stadium Tour now extends his list of already announced July, August and September shows into October. Garth’s Stadium Tour resumes this Saturday (July 10th) at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL’s Raiders.

Darius Rucker on the Time He Almost Got Arrested with Rascal Flatts
DARIUS RUCKER has been sharing road stories on TikTok . . . and here’s a good one about the time he almost got arrested with GARY LEVOX and JOE DON ROONEY of Rascal Flatts. It was after a show in Toronto.
They were walking to the tour bus when they spotted a golf cart, and took it for a spin. Quote, “Then Gary decided we were going to go across the highway, and as soon as we did we saw the [police] lights. We got pulled over in the golf cart.”
They were partners in crime, so they stuck together, right? Nope. He adds, quote, “The funniest thing about [it] is the cop stops us, and me and Joe Don did the old ‘pretend that we’re not there’ thing.
“We got out of the golf cart and started walking back, and we were leaving Gary right there. He was going to jail by himself, we were out of there.”
Lucky for Gary, their security came over and straightened things out. Quote, “But, that was one of the few nights of my life I really thought I was going to jail.”
