This happened last week in Montreal.  A couple accidentally shattered the glass of a barbershop door while kissing, but they left and didn’t tell anyone.  When the owner saw it on security cam he thought it was hilarious so he posted the video, and it went viral.  Here’s the owner.  (He’s offering to give the couple a free hotel stay if they come forward.)

NASA says a huge asteroid is set to pass “close” to Earth on Sunday (August 1st). The 2008 GO20 asteroid is between 318 and 720 feet tall and is traveling through space at 18,000 miles per hour. The gigantic asteroid has drawn size comparisons to the Giza Pyramid and Taj Mahal.

It is predicted to come as close to Earth as 2.8 million miles. For comparison, the Earth’s moon is 238,855 miles away from the planet, while Venus is 126.11 million miles away, and Mars is 236.5 million miles away. NASA says the distance could shrink due to the gravitational pull of planets as the asteroid passes through the solar system

Reports show that people in Missouri are getting vaccinated wearing disguises because they’re too embarrassed to let their friends and family know they’re getting the shot.

Here is Dr. Priscilla Frase talking about this bizarre behavior.

A 40-year-old piece of wedding cake will hit the auction block in about two weeks . . . and it’s expected to sell for around $700.

Why?  Because it was from the wedding of PRINCE CHARLES and PRINCESS DIANA in July of 1981.  The slice came from one of 23 cakes that were made for the ceremony.

It comes with a wedding program, ceremony details, and a breakfast menu.  It was last sold in 2008. The auction house says, quote, “It appears to be in exactly the same good condition as when originally sold.  But we advise against eating it.”

  • “Cheesecake Day”, a day to indulge yourself in one of the most decadent of all desserts.

SATURDAY-

SUNDAY-

  • “August”, begins. Originally the 6th month of the Roman year, called “Sextilis”. In 8 BC, Emperor Augustus Caesar persuaded the Senate to change the month’s name to ‘Augustus’ in his honor.

Five Questions We’re Googling About the Olympics

Here are five of the most common questions, according to Google Trends . . .

  1. “Why do divers shower after each dive?”  It’s not to wash the chlorine off, it’s to prevent injuries.  (???) The pool is cold and can make you cramp up.  So that’s why they take a warm shower or sit in a hot tub between dives.

  1. “Why does one volleyball player have a different colored jersey?”  They’re the only playerwho can sub in and replace another player in the back row.  They’re usually better at defense, so things like passing the ball and receiving serves.

  1. “Why is Russia called R.O.C.?”  Because Russia got banned for doping.  So all of their athletes are competing under the name “Russian Olympic Committee.”

  1. “Why isn’t LeBron Jamesin the Olympics?”  He had some injuries this year, so he decided to opt out.

  1. “How deep is an Olympic pool” and “How deep is a diving pool?”  The swimming pools in Tokyo arealmost 10 feet deep.  Diving pools are 10 to 16 feet depending on the event.  The high dive uses the deepest part.

  2. John Hugheswanted to film the baseball scenes for “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” at Comiskey Park, not the much more iconic Wrigley Field, because he was a White Sox fan.  But because of the shooting schedule, they had to film at a Cubs game instead.  (Comiskey is now called Guaranteed Rate Field.)

  1. The famous sky-and-grass photo that was the default background in Windows XP is from Napa Valley, California . . . and it only looks like it does in the photo because an insect infestation had wiped out all of the grapevines in the area.

  1. Squirrels can climb trees faster than they can run on the ground.

NOT A TYPE-O:

It’s a bad year for mosquitos in many areas, and according to one expert, there are a few things you may be doing to make it seem worse.

Dan Peach, an entomologist who studies the insects in B.C. and Yukon, says that if you crack a refreshing beer while on a hike or around the campfire, well, let’s just say that will attract the bugs as easily as it will attract a freeloading neighbor.

That’s right – mosquitos are drawn to the scent of alcohol. What else brings the bugs toward some people over others?  The color of clothing can factor in. The darker it is, the more interested the insects will be.

But much of the reason why mosquitoes are drawn to one person over another has to do with permanent features. The content of your exhaled breath can determine if the bugs want to bite you, and type O blood is the most attractive.

CLAY WALKER RELEASES FIRST NEW ALBUM IN OVER A DECADE TODAY

Clay Walker releases his first new album in 11 years called Texas To Tennessee today (Friday, July 30th). Co-produced by Jason Aldean’s longtime producer Michael Knox, the 10-song collection includes Clay’s latest single, “Need A Bar Sometimes.”

Clay recorded the project in both Nashville, TN and Galveston, TX, and he co-wrote all 10 of the songs on Texas To Tennessee at his producer’s insistance. [“He did have a focus. He said, ‘Clay, if I’m gonna do it I’d really like to make a record that’s just about your life, that’s all you.’ He said, ‘I’d like you to write every song on it.’ That was the biggest element is that we had to have something that would A, lyrically stand up and sonically stand up to whatever’s out there at radio or just in the market right now.”]

Clay’s last album, She Won’t Be Lonely Long, was released in 2010.

Russell Dickerson on Singing “Friends in Low Places” in Tighty-Whities and Cowboy Boots

Music Mayhem asked RUSSELL DICKERSON to share some of the things that made him who he is today, so he went way back for the good stuff.  He said the first album he ever bought was “Michael Jackson’s Greatest Hits”

His first concert was Hanson, and before you judge, here’s why:  Quote, “My cousin came to town, and brought all her cute friends, and I definitely invited myself to the concert to hang out with her cute friends.”

His first musical memory goes back when he was a wee lad of four.  Quote, “I was singing ‘Friends in Low Places’ in my little tighty-whities and cowboy boots into the karaoke machine at my aunt’s house.  Singing a drinking song at four years old.”

His first celebrity crush?  Quote, “The Olsen Twins.  I had the calendar and everything.”  His first job as at a home decor store when he was 15.  He also spent time working at Chick-fil-A.

And the first song he ever wrote was pretty darn good.  Quote, “The first song I’ve ever written was ‘Zero to Sixty’, and that was on my first EP.”
