On Today’s Show
August 16, 2021 9:35 am➢ A woman is going viral after getting revenge on some noisy neighbors by tossing bread on their roof, so their home would be infested by seagulls. Here is Heather Minshull talking us through her diabolical plan.
➢ This isn’t what most people would plan when trying to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
A man named John Wood says he and his wife were on board a floating Café, in England, when a “nude cruise” came into view and naked passengers started waving at them.
Wood said “Reaction in the restaurant was mostly of amusement, and concern for their health as the wind was getting up.” A nudist club was operating its annual “Nude Cruise” in which passengers travel naked for a cruise around the area.
➢ Edith Murway-Traina — who celebrated her 100th birthday last Sunday — has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest competitive female powerlifter. In 2019, she broke the record for ‘oldest powerlifter’ by hulking upwards of 150 pounds at 98. Her achievement is marked in the 2022 edition of the “Guinness World Records” book, out next month. She stopped working out due to the pandemic, but is now back at the gym 3 times a week with her trainer, preparing for another competition in November. How does she do it? The Tampa-based great-great-grandmother says: “I’m kind of annoying.” Tell me I can’t do something, and I will prove that I can.”
➢ Not everyone enjoys the same music. An 11th grade student in Australia recently wrote a note to an unidentified musician about his playing in Sydney. Lily Plummer wrote a note and placed it on a fence in the park where the bagpiper often plays, it reads, “Dear bagpiper, I understand lockdown is hard and we all need a creative outlet. However, it’s been eight days and I’m not sure how much more bagpiping I can take. Please consider taking a day off every now and then, it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, a struggling [11th grade] student.” She also drew a picture of a bagpipe to avoid any confusion. Sydney is currently under lockdown until at least August 28th, and residents may only leave their homes for essential reasons, including exercising outside.
➢ An unopened copy of Super Mario Bros. from 1985 has sold for $2 million. According to Rally, the company that sold the game the copy had a 9.8 A+ rating on the Wata Scale, meaning it was in “exceptional condition.” The sale marks the highest price ever paid for a video game, surpassing the $1.65 million sale of a mint version of Super Mario 64 last month.

They’ve come out of their burrows “in search of food and love.” These three-inch creatures, also known as whip scorpions, can pinch with their heavy mouthparts, according a Facebook post from the park.
They also have long, whip-like tails which can shoot a spray of 85% acetic acid, a main component of vinegar. If that sounds scary to you, you’re not alone. The critters have inspired sensational headlines about “acid-shooting land lobsters.” But they’re nocturnal and can’t see very well, are “relatively benign unless you annoy them,” according to the park. And they’re not poisonous.

DAN + SHAY SHARE ‘GOOD THINGS’ WITH THE WORLD
Dan + Shay‘s new album, Good Things, was released Friday. It features the multi platinum chart-topping hit, “10,000 Hours,” featuring Justin Bieber, as well as the duo’s latest hit, “Glad You Exist.”
Shay Mooney tells us that while he and Dan Smyers are in very happy places in their lives, personally, they have experienced both the ups and downs represented on the project and it all led to the “good things” they’re experiencing right now. [“That’s the beauty of being able to step into the storyteller. That’s like step one as an artist. You have to have been able to relate to it at one point in your life, and all these songs, we’ve definitely experienced everything that is in this album and it’s amazing to be able to step into that and, obviously, I think that’s the beauty of why we call the album ‘Good Things’ because I think through even some of the bad stuff that you went through, whether it’s a breakup song or a love song I feel like good can come from the dark places, and that’s just kind of very reminiscent of the album.”]
Good Things will be Dan + Shay’s fourth studio album. It follows up their 2018 self-titled release.

Walker Hayes Explains “Squeakin’ in the Truck Bed”
There are people who are confused by some of the very simple “Fancy Like” lyrics. WALKER HAYES had to post a video to clear it up.
Here’s what he said, quote, “People been asking me, ‘Who is Maddy?’ Also, lot of people ask, ‘What is Natty?’ Even some people ask, ‘If the Styrofoam is squeaking in the back, who is driving the truck?'”
Yes, they actually think the truck is squeaking because a couple is gettin’ busy in the back . . . and the truck is careening down the highway without a driver. (???)
Anyway, here are his answers, quote, “It’s ‘Natty’ with an ‘N’ because that’s what we called Natural Light [beer] growing up in Mobile, [Alabama.] I thought everybody called it Natty. And there’s no Maddie in the song.
“And then the ‘squeakin’ in the back.’ Nothing dirty going on there. That’s just what happens with a Styrofoam cooler in a truck, if you’ve ever driven one around. It squeaks a lot and it’ll drive you crazy.”
