On Today’s Show
August 24, 2021 9:35 am➢ An oral health expert in the U.K. is trending on TikTok after explaining why it’s better to brush your teeth BEFORE breakfast, not after.
Some people wait, so they can brush away all the food particles. But brushing RIGHT after breakfast isn’t a great idea, because your mouth is full of ACID.
Things like coffee, juice, and even toast make your mouth more acidic. And if you brush with all that acid in there, it can damage your enamel.
Brushing before breakfast also adds a thin layer that protects your teeth from all that acid. And in general, there’s a lot of bacteria in your mouth right after you wake up. So brushing before you eat is better for a few reasons.
If you REALLY want a clean mouth, you could brush before AND after. Just make sure you wait a little while before your post-breakfast brush.
The American Dental Association says to wait an hour after eating. But some dentists say 30 minutes is enough. Or swish with water, and that should lower the amount of acid in there.
➢ A man has been charged for landing a helicopter in a busy parking lot in order to make a Dairy Queen run. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say the pilot landed a red helicopter “in a high traffic parking lot on 101st Street in Tisdale, Saskatchewan at about 5pm” on July 31st. The pilot reportedly dropped off a passenger who picked up an ice cream cake. The 34-year-old pilot now has a court date for dangerous operation of an aircraft.
➢ Costco shoppers took to Twitter recently to complain about toilet paper and water shortages, mirroring the start of the pandemic in the US in March 2020. Research shows stockpiling could return as the Delta variant sweeps through the nation. A study survey from Inmar Intelligence showed that 69.4% of the 1,000 adults surveyed would consider stockpiling items amidst the spread of the Delta variant. One customer from Nevada lamented, “Did we not learn from last year at all? I pulled up to Costco and they are out of toilet paper and water. These people never learn.” Another customer from California expressed this could be a “sign of the times to come.”
➢ Sean Penn recently ran into his inspiration for Jeff Spicoli from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” for the first time in decades. And apparently he’s nothing like the character anymore. Sean says, quote, “I couldn’t believe it was him.”

Wally the Walrus will be given his own “floating couch” to rest on in order to keep him from sinking boats off the coast of Ireland. Wally has been spotted resting in parked boats along the coast, sinking at least two of them. Seal Recue Ireland secured a pontoon for him as a dedicated resting spot, but the vessel has three raised sides, making it resemble a floating couch.

National Waffle Day! Do You Prefer Waffles, Pancakes, or French Toast?
It’s National Waffle Day! So here’s a question . . .
What do you like best? Waffles, pancakes, or French toast?
A recent poll asked 45,000 people to name their favorite breakfast food. But they only gave five options: Pancakes, waffles, French toast, eggs, or something else. Here’s how people answered . . .
- Eggs got 43% of the vote.
- Pancakes, 18%.
- French toast, 16%.
- Waffles, only 13%. So they’re the LEAST popular of the three.
- “Other.” So things like bacon, sausage, and toast.
Even though waffles didn’t rank that high, most of us DO enjoy them. Another recent survey found 76% of us like waffles. That includes 80% of women and 69% of men. Southerners and people over 65 love them the most.
