On Today’s Show
September 14, 2021 9:35 am➢ A website called Finance Buzz is looking for someone to watch 13 horror movies . . . and they’ll pay you $1,300 to do it.
They’ll also send you a FitBit to wear, so they can monitor your heartbeat and see how SCARED you get. The movies were made with varying budgets, and they supposedly want to know if that affects the amount of scares a movie delivers.
The budget disparity of these films is pretty huge. “Paranormal Activity” was made for $15,000 . . . while “A Quiet Place” rang up a $17 MILLION tab.
Applications are due by September 26th. You can apply at FinanceBuzz.com.
➢ Here’s the newest thing we’ve been doing wrong our whole life: You’re not supposed to use a knife to cut an English muffin in half . . . you should be using a FORK. Some guy on TikTok found out about it, and now a video he posted is blowing up.
You shouldn’t use a knife because it cuts the nooks and crannies wrong, and can RUIN your entire English muffin-eating experience. It’s better to use a fork, or just pull the sides apart with your hands.
This isn’t secret information, by the way. The Thomas’ English Muffin website clearly says “do not use a knife” in its FAQ section. And they even put it on their packaging. Which just goes to show, no one EVER reads the instructions anymore.
➢ Rapper The Notorious B.I.G. had a hit in 1997 with the song “Mo Money, Mo Problems”. But is that actually true? Does having more money ultimately bring more stress?
Someone polled 5,000 people, and only 12% said more money means more stress . . . 60% said it’s NOT true . . . and 28% said they don’t know.
People who make a lot were much more likely to say it’s NOT true. In other words, most people who are well off financially admit it doesn’t make life more stressful.
➢ JEFF BRIDGES had some great news to share yesterday: His cancer is in remission. (!!!)
Last October he announced he was diagnosed with lymphoma and would be starting treatment. And yesterday he said his 9 inch-by-12 inch mass is now the size of a marble.
Up until recently he was needing oxygen just to walk around. But thanks to therapy, he was able to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding and do the father-daughter dance WITHOUT the oxygen tank.
Jeff will soon resume filming his new Hulu series, “The Old Man”.

CELEB’S TALENTS YOU MAY NOT HAVE EXPECTED:
➢ Jason Statham – was a good enough diver that he represented England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.
➢ Mike Rowe – The “Dirty Jobs” host can sing opera. He actually auditioned once for the Baltimore Opera and was accepted.
➢ Neil Patrick Harris – is a lover of magic and a member of the Magic Castle.
➢ Will Smith – is a Rubik’s cube prodigy. That scene in “The Pursuit of Happyness” where his character solves the puzzle was not rigged or pre-set in any way.
➢ Justin Bieber – Same. He showed off his talent on “Carpool Karaoke”.
➢ Mark Ruffalo – is a unicyclist. He learned when he was 12, and 25 years later, was able to get right back in the saddle on “The Graham Norton Show”.
➢ Nick Offerman – is an accomplished woodworker. In fact, he founded his own woodcrafting company, “Offerman Woodshop” about 20 years ago.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS
- Humans are the only animals that can blush and perhaps the only species that can feel embarrassment. Blushing appears to be a unique human expression, which happens when blood vessels in the face dilate when we’re embarrassed.
- It’s only been 44 years since France executed a criminal with the GUILLOTINE. They executed a convicted murderer by chopping off his head in 1977 . . . and then abolished the death penalty in 1981.
- The “Wheel of Fortune”wheel has 200 lights, 73 steel pins, and weighs 2,400 pounds. And there’s only one of them, so when the show goes on the road, they transport it.
- Steve Jobs’first job was an internship at Hewlett-Packard. When he was 12.

Shoplifter Got Locked Out of Her Getaway Car
Three women in Illinois stole a bunch of clothes from a sporting goods store last Saturday.
They grabbed as many sweat suits as they could carry and ran to the parking lot where their car was. But the last one to the car had issues.
The first two women jumped in the front seats and started the car. But the third lady couldn’t get in because the back door was LOCKED.
Some guy who got it on video thinks they panicked and put the car in drive. So the doors auto-locked, and that’s why she couldn’t get in.
As all that was happening, a cop car pulled up. So the two women in the car floored it and left the third shoplifter behind.
She dropped the sweat suits and started running after the car, but a cop chased her down on foot before she made it out of the parking lot.
She’s facing charges for felony theft, and also had an active warrant for a previous theft charge. Last we heard, the cops were still looking for her two friends.

Garbage Truck Crash Uncovered an Illegal Marijuana Grow Operation
Every day stupid criminals are getting themselves caught, but sometimes a stupid SITUATION can expose even the most careful criminals.
Last Wednesday, a driver ran a red light in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and cut off a garbage truck. The driver of the garbage truck swerved, lost control, drove over the median, and then crashed into a building.
And inside the building was . . . a massive, illegal marijuana grow operation.
Supposedly there were more than 260 plants, spread throughout three rooms. Some of the
growers involved had medical marijuana licenses, but the collection was so large that it’s considered “commercial,” which is NOT allowed.
The police are still investigating, so no charges have been filed yet. And thankfully no one was injured in the crash.

The Top Sounds That Trigger Happy Memories
It’s amazing how certain sounds can trigger old memories. A new poll found it happens to us about twice a week on average. And 1 in 10 people said every day. Here are the top 10 sounds that can trigger a happy memory . . .
- An old song you love. Especially if you haven’t heard it in a long time.
- Waves crashing on the beach.
- Birds chirping.
- A crackling fireplace.
- Walking on fresh snow.
- A waterfall.
- A cat purring.
- Trees blowing in the wind.
- The sound of rain.
- Leaves rustling, because it reminds us of fall.
A few more from the top 20 include church bells . . . bees . . . thunder . . . kids having fun . . . and the RADIO playing in the background made the list at #18.
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 14TH
- Blue Jays 8 Rays 1
- The season premiere of Monday Night Football didn’t disappoint last night. The Las Vegas Raiders came back from a two-touchdown deficit to beatthe Baltimore Ravens 33 to 27 in overtime. Here’s the last play of the game, when the Raiders had planned on kicking a field goal for the win, but got called for delay of game. They decided to run a risky play instead of kick. It paid off. (From “Monday Night Football” on Monday, September 13, 2021.)
Sports History: It was the first regular season NFL game ever played in front of fans in Las Vegas history, since last season was void of fans at Allegiant Stadium due to COVID. 61,756 attended last night’s game.
- An actor named DON COLLIER died yesterday of lung cancer. He was 92. He was in a lot of Westerns, like “El Dorado”, “The Undefeated”, “The War Wagon”, and “Tombstone”.
But if you were a ’70s or ’80s kid, you’re most likely to remember Don as the GUMFIGHTER in those old Hubba Bubba commercials. (!!!)
He was an Old West hero who would take on bad guys in bubble blowing contests . . . and he always won, because his bubbles were bigger, and unlike his opponent’s gum, HIS Hubba Bubba didn’t stick to his face when his bubble popped.
In other words, as he would say after each “gumfight” . . . “Big bubbles, no troubles.”
- Emojis may soon be used between doctors and patients, a paper shortage, and the subway shutdown was caused by a flick of a switch. (From Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers, on Monday, September 13, 2021.)
Mindy McCready scored her first Number One single with “Guys Do It All the Time” in 1996.
The song was the second single from McCready’s double-platinum selling debut album
Ten Thousand Angels.
