On Today’s Show

A woman’s Tweet is going viral, where she says that her son is sick . . . so HER mother gave her a bottle of Vicks VapoRub.  It looked old, so she checked the expiration date.  And it was 01-1987 . . . 34 years ago!

People started sharing their old bottles of Vicks VapoRub, and other “vintage” medications . . . from their grandparents’ cabinets and their own.  Then, the maker of Vicks warned that you shouldn’t use expired product, because they “couldn’t guarantee its safety and effectiveness.”

The woman didn’t care.  She said she used it, and it worked as expected.  She also confirmed that it hasn’t been refilled, and described it as, “single barrel aged.”

A British woman unpacking her suitcase after a trip to Barbados made a shocking discovery — a gecko that stowed away for a 4,000-mile journey inside her bra. Lisa Russell, 47, contacted the RSPCA after she spotted the tiny gecko while unpacking her. Russell said she initially wasn’t sure what the small object was inside the cup of her bra. “I thought it was a tiny dead creature and then when it moved, I started screaming — it is not what you expect to find after a 4,000-mile journey”.  Russell said the gecko must have been in her suitcase for at least 24 hours, from the time she packed it to the time she started unpacking.

How far would you go to skip ALL the lines at a theme park?  A report just came out about a 30-year-old guy in Florida who went to Disney World this summer . . . and managed to skip every line by posing as a Disney TOUR GUIDE.

For several days in early June, employees noticed there were a bunch of unapproved “overrides” on an app their VIP tour guides use.

So a fraud investigator kept his eyes peeled.  And he saw a man he didn’t know leading a tour and bypassing a line in their Hollywood Studios park.

Disney shut it down immediately, and the guy started walking to the parking lot.

They followed him to his car, and he eventually admitted he had an official Disney World iPad that only guides are supposed to have access to.  They kicked him off the property but decided not to press charges.

A modern take on “The Lost Boys” is on the way.  So far, it will star Noah Jupe from “A Quiet Place” and Jaeden Martell from the new “IT” movies.

For those who haven’t seen the original “Lost Boys” . . . first of all, go watch it . . . it’s perfect for Halloween-time.  Second, it’s about a pair of brothers who move with their mom to a California beach town and discover that it’s being terrorized by a gang of vampires.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Last Full Day of Summer” in the Northern Hemisphere as Autumn officially arrives tomorrow.

  • “World Alzheimer’s Day”, an annual observance to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

STUFF YOU SHOULD GET RID OF – IMMEDIATELY:

Outgrown and unworn clothes:  If those jeans haven’t fit since high school, and that sweater is even too ugly for an ugly Christmas sweater party, throw it out.

Broken jewelry:  Throw out or donate any costume jewelry that isn’t being used, and throw out broken necklaces or earrings that have no worth. Broken pieces that are valuable can be sold at many jewelry stores.

Expired cosmetics:  The old stuff has a plethora of bacteria, mold and yeast. Toss mascara after 3 months, liquid foundation after 6, and lipstick after 2 years.

Wire hangers:  Replacing them with sturdy plastic or wood ones will freshen up your closet space. They’re better for your clothes too.

Old shoes:  Old smelly shoes cluttering a closet serve no purpose. Donate the ones that are OK, and trash the rest.

Expired medication:  Not only is it unsafe, it’s just not that effective. It’s best to find a drug disposal program in your area.

Games and puzzles with pieces missing:  They’re no good to anybody.

Movies and books you’ll never use again: Donate ‘em…sell ‘em…or if they’re in poor

condition, chuck ‘em!

Heinz Is Selling a “Packet Roller” That Gets Every Last Drop Out of Ketchup Packets

Getting all the ketchup out of a ketchup packet is slightly difficult and mildly annoying.   But now, that national nightmare is finally over . . .

Heinz is selling a ketchup packet ROLLER that gets every last drop of ketchup out.  And it’s small enough to put on a keychain.

It’s shaped like a ketchup bottle, with a slot on the side that you feed the packet through.  Then a roller inside squeezes all the ketchup out, and spits the empty packet out the other side.

It’s not automatic.  You have to crank it to pull the ketchup packet through.  But it does look like it gets about 99% of the ketchup out of there.

It’s also got a tool that cuts the corner of the packet open.  There’s a loop on one end, so you can attach it to your keys.  And you can use it with other sauce packets, not just ketchup.

They’re selling for $5.70, plus $2 shipping.  You can get one at HeinzPacketRoller.com while supplies last.

  1.   It appears Justin Trudeau’s hopes for a majority government have been quashed, but his Liberals will remain in power.

The Liberal Party is projected to win the federal election with enough seats to form a minority government. With no change in the status quo, Trudeau’s Liberals will still need support from one or more of the opposition parties to pass legislation.

The Liberals won, were leading in, or are projected to win 156 seats as Monday just before midnight, with Erin O’Toole’s Conservative Party forming the official opposition with 123 seats.

The NDP under Leader Jagmeet Singh has earned a total of 28 seats, a slight increase from the previously held 24 seats. The Bloc Québécois is projected to lose three seats, dropping from 32 to 29, while the Green Party appears to have retained its two seats.  The Peoples Party of Canada held no seats as of 11:50 p.m.

Has Morgan Wallen Kept His Promise to Donate $500,000 to Black Organizations?

“Rolling Stone” has been looking into MORGAN WALLEN’s claim on “GMA” that he donated $500,000 to black music organizations.  They started by reaching out to his people and were promised details, but those never arrived.

So they went digging.  They talked to the Black Music Action Coalition [BMAC], which is the organization Morgan name-checked on “GMA”.  They did receive $165,000 in April, but called the $500,000 number “exceptionally misleading.”

Then “Rolling Stone” reached out to “56 other state, regional, and national Black-led or Black-founded charities” . . . and none of them got money from Morgan.  If he did donate anything to them, it was anonymously.

This all came out in a “Rolling Stone” article, and that got the attention of Morgan’s record label, Big Loud.  The CEO said THEY donated the $500,000 . . . of which “$100,000 was earmarked and promised for further donations by year-end locally.”

He also claimed the record label’s donations included “$300,000 to BMAC and Other Black Leaders’ organizations of choice.”  But when BMAC was asked about that, they said they only received the previously confirmed $165,000.

Brett Eldredge Lost Too Much Weight from Running During the Pandemic

I’m NOT going to make you feel guilty about blowing off all those workouts during the pandemic.  I’ll let BRETT ELDREDGE do that.  He actually did too much cardio during the shutdown.

Quote, “I got so into running that I got super lean, and almost too thin.  I was like ‘Man, I gotta put on some pounds.  I gotta get back in the gym.'”

Now he has to focus on putting more food on his plate.  He adds, quote, “I’m always so hungry.  I’m really hungry right now.  I’m always hungry.”

He says his current routine is a combination of cardio and lifting weights three or four days a week.  It’s put him in a good place physically and mentally.  Quote, “[It’s] helped my mind stay as good as it can be through the last couple of years.”

MICKEY GUYTON RELEASES ANOTHER NEW SONG FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Mickey Guyton has released a new song called “Love My Hair” from her upcoming debut album, Remember Her Name. She co-wrote the song for the new project which will be released on September 24th. Mickey said, “I wrote ‘Love My Hair’ after seeing a video of a little Black girl who was sent home from school because she was told that her hair was too distracting. Seeing this young girl’s embarrassment and agony brought me back to my own struggles with self-love and I wanted to write a song to this little girl facing adversity because of what God gave her. I want her and anyone facing similar struggles to feel seen.”

Mickey earned her first ever CMA nomination last week for New Artist of the Year. The CMA Awards will be held in Nashville on Wednesday, November 10th on ABC.
