Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Riverview Gardens on Friday April 20, 2018, Martin Van Raay, age 96, of Chatham, beloved husband of the late Angelina (Heuvelmans) Van Raay (2010).

Born in Holland in 1922, son of the late Marie (Verhaar) and Martin Van Raay.

Martin was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Knights of Columbus, Father James Assembly and St. Joseph’s Council 10436. Together with Angela they founded the Glasshouse Nursery and Garden Centre in 1975. His love for his family and faith is an inspiration for all.

Loving father of Cathy Van Raay-Myers (Rob), Mario Van Raay (Wendy), Corinne Van Raay (Bill), Dave Van Raay (Sue), Paul Van Raay (Rie), Terry Van Raay, Shawn Van Raay (Michele) and Chantall Van Raay (Steve). Also sadly missed by 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Cherished brother of Nolly Philippi. Predeceased by sisters; Marie Wammes, Miep VanDiejen, Cornelia Van Raay and Anny Steck and by brothers Koos, Fritze and Case Van Raay.

Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Tuesday April 24, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 25, 2018 at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

Donations to the Children’s Treatment Centre or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
