January 13, 2020 9:49 amA resident of Dover Centre, Adrien Vanheste, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 89.
Born in Belgium, Adrien immigrated to Canada from Belgium with his wife and two children in 1956.
Son of the late Jerome & Liza (nee Thevelein).
Beloved husband for 62 years to the late Mary Vanheste (nee Vanhooren).
Loving father of Nicole (Nikki) & Eric Carr, Willy & Donna Vanheste, Linda & Ken McFadden, Rita & Fern Godreau, and Diane & Guil Godreau.
Forever missed by his 11 grandchildren; Jason (Kristen) Carr, Jamie (Shawna) Carr, Steven Vanheste, Kevin (Melanie) Vanheste, Ryan Vanheste, Melissa Ellens, Mark (Nicole) McFadden, Michael Godreau, Jeff Godreau, Amanda Godreau, & Daniel (Johanna) Godreau and 16 great-grandchildren.
Survived by numerous relatives in Belgium.
He will be missed by special friends, Larry & Joyce Delrue.
Adrien worked many years as a Concrete Truck Driver with Dresden Ready Mix. He enjoyed spending time with his chickens and rabbits, gardening and helping his friend, Larry. He was a member of the Canadian Dutch Belgium Archery Club in Wallaceburg, Chatham and Detroit.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for Dr. Misra, the 4th floor staff of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the staff of the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their caring and compassionate support with Adrien.
Family will receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 10:00 am until the Service time of 12:00 pm. Burial to follow the Reception in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Adrien to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
