Provost, Mary Louise of Chatham,  passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at the age of 83.

Born in Chatham, Mary Louise was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Sophie (Antaya) Bechard.

Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Hector (2019).

Loving mother of Peter (Lisa) of Mitchell’s Bay, Denise (Harold) Leeson of Chatham, and Dennis (Penelope) of Chatham.

Grandma to Andrew (Therese) Leeson, Jessica (Dillion) Boyt, Brandon Provost, Shaun VanSickle (Alicia), John VanSickle (Daniela), Doulton Waddick (Emma), Kailee Waddick (Braeden), Raleigh Provost and Hayden Provost.

Great-grandmother to Lyric and Helena Boyt and Jaxon and Austin VanSickle.

Sister to Genevieve (late John) Owen of Ridgetown and Evelyn St. Pierre of Chatham.

Predeceased by her siblings Margaret (late George) Countryman, Agnes (late Raymond) Lozon, Louis Bechard, Paul Bechard, Rita (late Hillary) O’Mara and Jeanne (Ron) Morris.

Sister-in-law to Lennard (late Joyce) Provost of Wallaceburg. Predeceased by her in-laws Art (late Delores) Provost, Don (late Donna) Provost, Bob (late Carol) Provost and Larry (late Patricia) Provost.

Will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Mary Louise loved to be around her family. She had a kind demeanor, fun loving nature and was absolutely devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known as a great hostess, a master gardener and hand quilted many an heirloom for her family. She was a talented sewer and was known to sew doll furniture which she donated to support local charities. She was also famous for her cakes, which she sold through her side business to many weddings, anniversaries and birthday parties.

As per Mary Louise’s wishes, her family will remember her privately.
