October 16, 2023 8:16 amA resident of Chatham, Ed Broad passed away surrounded by his family at the Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the age of 79.
He was the son of the late Louise (nee Gould), and the late Garland Broad. Dearly loved by Ethel Kelly.
Remembered always by his wife of 52 beautiful years, Joyce Broad (nee Casier)
Proud father of Brenda Van Beers (Mike), Michelle Mills (Julian), Stacey Field (Charlie) & Tracy Broad.
Grandpa of Dayna, Chase (Chanelle), Chrissy, JayC, Brandi, Brooke, C.J. (Sarah), Brenden & Steven.
Great-grandpa of Clarke, Calvin & Charlee.
Brother of the late William, Jack, Glen (Ruth Ann), Gerald, & Sharron.
Brother-in-law of Pat Broad, Valere Casier (Ann), & Leonard Casier (Henny).
Dear uncle to many nieces & nephews and missed by extended family & friends.
Ed enjoyed several years as a Salesman with Simpson’s Fence. He could often be found drinking around town with his many friends. Every night he enjoyed a beer & a cigar with his family. He was involved heavily with his racing family and enjoyed his time out playing cards. Ed loved to golf and having a good time. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 642 and could be found there Friday nights.
The family are to receive friends on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 1:00 – 3:00 pm & 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. A Legion Service will take place at 6:15 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Cremation to follow with burial in Dresden Cemetery at a later date.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will also be held on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 642, 39 William Street North, Chatham from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a Toast to Ed at 3:00 pm. Bring your happy memories and any photo you may have to share.
In memory of Ed, donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Chatham-Kent or to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 642 Building Fund.
