A resident of Chatham, Catherine Weir Mifflin (nee Whyte) passed at her residence on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at the age of 87. 

She was the daughter of the late John & Gladys (nee Moorehouse) Whyte.

Catherine will be reunited with her late husband, Ivan (1993) and lovingly remembered by her children, Colleen Chepeka, Bill Mifflin (Charlotte) and Margaret Longland (Gene Reaume).

Proud grandma of Ava Mifflin (Joe Regnier), Candise May (Ken), Kevin Mifflin, William Ivan Mifflin, Courtney Catherine Mifflin (Justus), Tonya Longland (Craig), Shannon Hillman (Kevin), Darrin Longland (Skye).

Great-grandma of Carson, Carter & Kaiden May, Jared Mifflin-Bond, Chase Mifflin, Grayden & Brinley Hillman, Darrow & Cedar Hutchins.

Predeceased by her siblings, Edna Marek & John Whyte and sister-in-laws, June Wilson (Fred), Kathleen Charlton (Pete) & Arlene Allen.

Survived by brother-in-laws, Mike Marek & Richard Allen.

Missed by many nieces, nephews & extended family.

Catherine retired from Zellers after over 30 years of Service. She was a Proud member of St. Andrews United Church, the UCW, Friendship Group. Catherine enjoyed her time with the Kent Seniors Bowling League and Golden Age Bowling League. She loved to spend her time reading, quilting and doing needlepoint. Catherine was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting them by being on the sidelines of their hockey games. Her commentary will forever be missed. She was her daughter’s & granddaughter’s biggest cheerleader alongside their slo-pitch baseball games. Throughout their years, Ivan and Catherine enjoyed their time camping with their 3 children all over Canada. Catherine’s outgoing personality and love for her family will be deeply remembered always.

A heartfelt thank you to our hairdresser, Charlene Marchand, who made weekly visits a moment of joy and helping keep Catherine’s curls flawless.

Friends to be received on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00 am. Burial in Shanks Cemetery, Port Alma.

In memory of Catherine, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
