Well Done Rebound

On Saturday, I took my daughters to Rebound’s Reaching Out event in support of mental health in the community and it was amazing to see.  So much great information for our kids and even us parents.

So well put together and well done.

It’s the sixth year for this event at Great Lakes Secondary School.  Booths, activities including journalling and even therapy dogs were there to pet and cuddle.  There were snacks, there was a band with live music, and so many volunteers that were there to talk to all of us about what they do and how they can help.

I learned a lot about different organizations and services in the area.  I was so impressed.

St. Clair Child and Youth was there.  Did you know they offer a drop in through the week so if you ever feel alone and need to talk you can reach out to them?  And parents, did you know that if you are a parent of a teen/ youth that is struggling you can get help as well?  Because as parents we need to know what to say and how to handle it when our kids are struggling.  One of the groups I learned the most about was The Hub. There is even a space for kids 12-15 to hang out and connect, play games and more. Amazing group.

I was so impressed with the whole event and can’t thank you all enough for caring about our community enough to do this year after year. It was amazing.

Those that took part this year – St. Clair Child and Youth, Rebound and The Hub, Sarnia-Lambton Pride and Transgender Support Sarnia, Sarnia-Lambton Suicide Prevention, North Lambton Health Centre, Harmony for Youth, Canadian Mental Health, St. Joseph’s Hospice and The Boys and Girls Club.
