The View From Here – Smile!
July 10, 2020 12:50 pmIt’s another Feel Good Friday with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent.
Every Friday, we explore different things you can do to continue to take care of your mental health.
Today – we want to see your SMILE!
“Did you know that facial expressions have a big impact on our mood?! When we feel good, we will smile without realizing it. Science has shown that smiling (even if you’re in a bad mood) has the power to boost your mood because it sends signals to your brain to tell it that you’re actually happy!
Smiling can also help reduce our stress levels, increase our confidence, can make us be more creative and it’s such an easy fix!
It’s Friday – go ahead and smile! “
I get it. It’s hard to smile when you don’t feel there is anything to smile about. Just think of the impact YOUR smile might have on someone else who is also having a bad day? It can make the world of difference.
One of my favourite songs to listen to when I’m feeling kinda blah and down – is Michael Jackson – Smile. Originally done by Nat King Cole, there is just something about this song.
A reminder – that as tough as it might be – just smile.
Smile even tho’ it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
You’ll get by
Thro’ your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shin-ing thro’ for you
Hide ev-‘ry trace of sadness
Altho’ a tear may be ever so near
You must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worth-while
And Katy Perry has just revealed the title of her next album – “Smile” comes out August 14th. She’s also shared the title track from the new project, saying
“I wrote this song when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life,” Katy said of the new song in a press release. She added: “When I listen to it now, it’s a great reminder that I made it through. It’s three minutes of energizing hopefulness.”
