Do You Know This Familiar Song?

It’s a trip back in time.

Kate Rusby is a folk singer from England, and she has managed to take us back in time with the release of a song any Canadian is sure to know.

Kate is bringing back memories of simpler times with her cover of the theme song to The Littlest Hobo.   “Maybe Tomorrow” was written by Toronto jingles composers Terry Bush and John Crossen as the theme song for the CTV reboot of The Littlest Hobo, which ran for six seasons from 1979 to 1985.

Such a great show that tugged at the heart strings every week it aired.

The concept of the show was that of an “ownerless dog” wandering from town to town, helping people in need.  The Little Hobo’s destiny was to befriend those who needed help, portrayed by well known actors in celebrity guest appearance roles.  And despite the attempts of the many people who helped to adopt him, he seemed to always want to be on his own, and would head off down the road, on his own, at the end of every episode.

“Maybe tomorrow I’ll want to settle down….”

It’s a great song, and Kate does an incredible job.

The song is included on her 17th studio album Hand Me Down, her first collection of cover songs, which also includes her versions of tracks by Taylor Swift, The Cure and Bob Marley.
