Have You Fallen In Love With This Show Yet?
September 25, 2020 4:35 pmWhen they cleaned up at the Emmy’s last weekend I seriously jumped for joy. I was so happy. So excited. Even a little bit proud. Which is odd, considering I have nothing to do with it. But I’m Canadian so I guess I feel like I can claim it as my own.
I’m talking about Schitt’$ Creek. This little hidden gem of a show that in the last few years has taken the world by storm. For almost six years it was a little Canadian show that nobody really paid much attention to. Let’s face it – in Canada we haven’t always been excited about our own shows. And nobody can really pinpoint when or why – but suddenly it’s the only show people seem to be talking about. For good reason.
TV Guide named it the best show on television. Some 23,000 self-described Schittheads now belong to a Facebook fan club where they rank Moira’s outfits, swap memes and more. Multiple posts from fans comment on how the show has helped them through cancer, bereavement, suicidal thoughts and more.
They cleaned up at the Emmy’s – setting a few records in the process. Schitt’s Creek won nine awards – breaking the Emmys record for most wins in a single season for a comedy. That’s how you go out with a bang I guess.
All four major cast members won an award. The show took top comedy.
Nice way to say goodbye. It just finished it’s final sixth season.
A friend of mine who happens to live in the United States was the one who encouraged me to start watching it. I’m so glad she did.
I’m currently working my way through it for the second time. Though I haven’t seen the FULL series – waiting for season six to come out in October on Netflix – I absolutely LOVE this show. I love Dan Levy. I think his character is brilliant. He’s funny, he’s charming and you can’t help but love him. To me he is the star of the show. I want to hug him. Spend the day with him. Do life with him.
The casting is brilliant. The storyline, although it seems “silly” for lack of a better word – you really learn to love each character and their individual quirkiness.
Eugene Levy, his son Daniel Levy. Catharine O’Hara. Annie Murphy. Outstanding.
I can have the worst day and one episode of Schitt’s Creek and I am laughing and appreciating so much about life.
A rich family loses everything and ends up in a small town in the middle of nowhere, living in a cheap motel, adjusting to life without money and other luxuries. Learning what’s really important – which is family. Each other. Sharing lessons on love and so much more.
The small town in Ontario where the show was filmed still draws tourists and fans of the show.
It’s such a brilliant show in such a simple way.
So worth watching. You’ll fall in love with it too.
