Feel Good Friday – Find A Way To Give Back
October 30, 2020 4:17 pmIt’s another Feel Good Friday with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent, sharing ways you can take care of yourself, your mental health and FEEL GOOD. It’s hard. I get it. But if you only focus on what’s gone or taken away, it’s that much harder to feel good.
This week is about Giving Back. When you help others, you change your attitude too.
Giving back to your community can have a huge positive impact not only on the person receiving the support, but for our own mental health as well. Supporting your community in any way you can helps to foster connection and increase happiness, which is all too important especially in times like these.
We can all find ways to give back, big or small. What can you do to give back?
I see people giving back all the time. Our community is pretty incredible. You can donate to the food bank – just grab a little extra when you’re grocery shopping.
Our annual Coats for Kids campaign is underway. Donations of warm coats (for adults AND kids) are needed. As well as other winter items – hats, mitts, scarves etc. TWO donation locations this year. The Goodwill Donation Centre at 1307 Michigan Ave and at 1121 Wellington Street. Be sure to label your donations “Coats for Kids”.
You can help those struggling right now by making a donation in the Neighbour 2 Neighbour Food Drive happening Saturday November 7.
And I don’t think you have to do anything big to give back. I got a smile on the lid of my coffee cup today as I went through the drive thru. I’ve been smiling all afternoon. Find a way to give back to someone. Whether it’s a food donation, a winter coat to keep someone warm, or even a smile or a compliment. It makes all the difference.
