Feel Good Friday – Pay It Forward
October 9, 2020 2:06 pmEvery Friday we team up with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent for Feel Good Fridays!
Sharing ideas and ways to help you FEEL GOOD – especially going into this Thanksgiving weekend, where normally we look forward to the get togethers with friends and family. This year is different. We’re restricted. And it’s hard. It sure doesn’t feel GOOD. I think most of us get caught up in how much we’re losing and giving up and we’re frustrated. It’s easy to get down and feel down right ticked off.
You want a way to combat those negative feelings?
Pay it Forward.
“Today’s #FeelGoodFriday is encouraging everyone to find small acts of kindness to #PayItForward. One simple act of kindness towards someone else, without an expectation of receiving anything in return, can have lasting effects for both you and them.”
When I think of all the things that others has done for me and my family over the years I can’t help but smile and feel so incredibly blessed. We’ve had situations where the kindness of others has really made a difference. And I know myself, when someone takes the time to compliment me or encourage me to go after something in my life – I’m so grateful.
It doesn’t have to be about a physical item. You can pay it forward in simple ways. One simple act of kindness can do wonders.
What can you do?
- Make a donation to the food bank this weekend.
- Hold the door.
- Buy someone’s coffee in the drive thru.
- Compliment someone.
- Thank someone for something they have done.
- Inspire others online.
- Check up on someone who looks lonely.
- Let someone with only a few items cut you in line at the grocery store.
- Spread good news.
- Give words of encouragement to someone about their dreams, no matter how big or small they are.
- Be a courteous driver. Let people merge in front of you.
- Bake cookies or brownies and share with a neighbor or colleagues.
- If you have a good book you’ve read that’s just sitting around on a book shelf, give it away to a friend.
- Clean up litter in a park or open space nearby.
- Send a nice email or handwritten card to someone you know, unexpectedly.
- Leave encouraging post-it notes in library books and other random places.
- Setup a donation box at your school, work or place of worship and ask others to make canned/dried food contributions. Then deliver the donations accordingly.
How can you pay it forward? Don’t forget – you can NOMINATE someone today to win flowers from Sarnia Flower Boutique. Click HERE to nominate someone today. Winners announced every Friday in October.
