The View From Here – Show Me Your Monday Face

Awe, Monday.  We meet again.

The transition from weekend to workday is a wee bit harder when you’re at home.  Not complaining.  Just sayin’.   I miss the transition of home to office sometimes.  The ability to “psych” yourself up for the workday/ workweek.  Instead of “what’s behind door number two”.

Work meetings on Google Meet force me to dress up.  Or at least get out of pj’s.   (smile)

Anybody else really HATE video chats?  I can’t do them.   I know research shows we’re all dealing with Zoom fatigue.  It’s hard to chat on video.  We’re looking at our own face.  We’re being overly critical of our face.  “Do I really look like THAT?”

And while we’re on video, we’re doing our best to keep our “game face” on.   We can’t roll our eyes like we would elsewhere.  (smile)  Or fake a smile.  Best behavior when on Zoom.

What is life going to be like when we’re doing meetings the old fashioned way?  Are we going to try to “mute” someone when we don’t like what they’re saying?  Or ourselves?  “Sorry, did I say that OUT LOUD?”

And then I look at the close up.  At the wrinkles.  The roots.  The grey hair that is forcing it’s way back.  Yikes.

I was thinking of creating some cardboard cutouts for my home office to give me the feeling of being with co-workers.  You know, like they did at sporting events, when people weren’t actually allowed to be in the stands?  Cardboard cutouts of fans.  Which made me think “what celebrity would you chose to join you in your office?  whether at home or actually IN the office?”  Who do you think would be fun to work with?

I have my Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran Pop Figure.  I need to up my game.   I would totally have Oprah or Michelle Obama join me in studio any day.  P!nk.  The cast of Schitt’s Creek.   Feel free.  Drop on in.   Or at least interrupt a video meeting.

I do miss co-workers.  I guess I could start talking to my plants.   It’s supposed to help them to thrive or maybe at least keep them alive.   I’m not a master at that yet.   Keeping them alive.

It’s so nice to have sunshine and warm weather.  I hope you are taking advantage and getting your dose of vitamin D.  Does wonders for the soul.

What is on your mind on this Monday?  What are you thinking about?   Let’s chat.   And let me see your smiling face.
