A Bit Of Nostalgia Last Night
December 8, 2021 10:44 am“You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have – the Facts of Life, the Facts of Life”
Anybody else remember that show? Blair, Tootie, Jo and Natalie. Mrs. Garrett? Who could forget Mrs. G? Who always had the best advice and loved her girls like a mother.
I introduced my two girls to the show a few years ago and they loved it just as much as I did. According to Wikipedia – “The Facts of Life is an American television sitcom that originally aired on NBC from August 24, 1979, to May 7, 1988, making it one of the longest-running sitcoms of the 1980s.” It was about four girls, at all an girls boarding school learning about more than just what’s taught in the classroom or in a book.
Jo is a bit rough around the edges. Blair is a bit of a snob. A rich girl. Spoiled. Pampered. Tootie loves to gossip and roller skate. Natalie a bit of a people pleaser, looking to fit in and love herself. Each episode took us on a different ride. Learning important life lessons. Caring for each other. Standing up for what you believe in. The importance of morals and values. Honesty. Truth. Different girls. Different backgrounds. Broken families.
We watched them grow up.
I LOVED that show and still love getting the chance to watch old episodes.
The cast reunited last night and with the help of some celebrities including Jennifer Anniston – to take us on a trip down memory lane. And it was AWESOME. There was also a tribute to “Diff’rent Strokes” which featured an introduction by Todd Bridges, who played Willis on the series. Kevin Hart played Arnold, the role once played by the late Gary Coleman – and yes he did a “Whatcha talking about Willis” in the show. John Lithgow starred as Mr. Drummond and Damon Wayans played Willis. Snoop Dogg appeared in a guest role as a friend of Willis.
It was the third edition of “Live in Front of A Studio Audience” which first started in May 2019, with takes on “All in the Family” and “The Jeffersons”.
Did you watch? What did you think?
