Bon Appetite! Thank You Capstones!
June 9, 2022 2:48 pmLast night we were treated to a very indulgent and decadent meal at Capstones.
What IS Capstones? Lambton College Culinary students are offering Chef’s Table seatings the newly rebranded CAPSTONES RESTAURANT (formerly Creations).
Chef’s Table is a gourmet dining experience. All the menus are designed, prepared and served by Lambton College student Chefs under the supervision of their professors. The menu includes a themed appetizer, sorbet, main entre and dessert for just $65 including tax and gratuity. They are fully licensed with a wine and bar menu is available for an additional cost.
The restaurant is open Wednesday and Thursday nights every week thru August 11th.
So let me share a bit about the evening.
Our dinner was at six and we arrived to a very elegant atmosphere. Beautiful tables. Candlelight.
We were seated by one of the students and our night began.
To start we had a wonderful appetizer that I’m not sure I remember what it was called. But it was DELICIOUS. Shredded pork. Onion. Pepper. Goat cheese. SO GOOD.
Then we moved on to the soup.
Potage Parmentier – a creamy potato soup with the most delicious golden fried leek pockets.
Yes. Delicious. Hard to describe the taste.
The soup was creamy and so flavourful. The leek pockets were incredibly tasty. To me they were similar to a yorkshire pudding, but fried, and creamy and oh so good. And it was PRETTY.
So much flavour.
We got to cleanse our palate with a lemony sorbet and then we were on to the main course.
Steak Frites – A French brasserie classic with grilled ribeye steak, herbed rosemary thyme compound butter, rustic cut fries and watercress garnish. Um, is this what Heaven is like? Exceptional. Sorry, my picture doesn’t do it justice. The presentation was beautiful.
And then for dessert we were treated to Crème Caramel aux Poires. Pear flavoured Crème caramel garnished with fresh berries and spun sugar.
It was a fun night out with co-workers, with amazing food, lots of laughs and a super talented crew of Lambton College culinary students who served with a smile.
Thank you to the student chefs: Ranjeet and Shubhendu. AMAZING FOOD! You are incredibly good at what you do.
Next week’s theme is Italian, followed by Thai, Canadian, South America and Greek with more to come.
A special night out with delicious food. Might be nice for a grad celebration, birthday or anniversary or just because.
Treat yourself.
Thank you Capstones for an incredible experience and the tastiest of meals.
