Locally, Aamjiwnaang First Nation will be celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day (also known as Solidarity Day) today. A day held every year to celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of the nation’s Aboriginal peoples.
A community BBQ starts at 4:30 p.m. with more games, including a baseball scrimmage open to anyone 16 years or older.
At 7:30 p.m. things will shift over to the baseball diamond behind [The Maawn Doosh Gumig] Community Centre for more fun including karaoke, open mic and more. Fireworks are set for 10pm, (weather permitting)
