Dancing With The Stars Shocker

Does anybody still watch Dancing With The Stars?  If you do, what do you think after last night’s show? More specifically, Anna Delvey’s reaction to being sent home.

To catch you up, Tori Spelling got sent home and so did Anna Delvey. But the way Anna did it surprised a lot of people.  More accurate, it was the one word answer she gave that got people upset.

After the “fake heiress” was eliminated on Tuesday night’s show – alongside her pro partner Ezra Sosa – co-host Julianne Hough asked Anna what she would take away from the competition.

You might think she would say something about the incredible experience, working with her partner, doing something she’s never done…. blah blah blah.

And maybe she was sticking to her “character”, but she suprised a lot of people with her very abrupt answer.

“Nothing”

Ouch.  Really? Nothing?

It surprised her partner, as well as Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov.  It left co-host Alfonso Ribeiro scrambling to come up with something to say, awkwardly filling in the silence with “She’s not taking anything away? You had fun. Stop it.”

So, um, yeah.  That’s what a lot of people are talking about today.  I mean, people were quick to jump on social media and express their opinions about the moment.  But there was criticism there already because of who Anna Delvey is.  You might remember her name from the Netflix series “Inventing Anna”

Anna Delvey,  whose real name is Anna Sorkin,  is famous for pretending to be a very wealthy German heiress, using her social standing to defraud wealthy people, banks and hotels.  She was brilliant and it worked up until she was arrested in 2017 and convicted of grand larceny in the first, second and third degree, as well as theft of services in 2019.

She was sentenced up to 12 years in prison, but released in February 2021 for good behavior.  Not long after she was released she was taken back into custody by ICE for violating the terms of her visa and has been living under house arrest in New York City while she continues to fight her deportation case.

She was given permission to participate in the show, ankle monitor and all and some people were just not okay with that.  But the show is known for bringing in the “celebrities” to bring in the ratings.

Thoughts?  Should she have even been allowed to participate on Dancing With the Stars?  What did you think of her one word exit?  Was it as scandelous as many people are making it out to be?
