We Remember

The older I get, the more I appreciate and understand the significance of November 11th.  Today we remember those who sacrificed for us.  It’s hard to wrap my head around it.  The thought of war in our country.  I have never had to say goodbye to someone and send them off to fight for our country and to worry and wonder or the very worst, to have to say goodbye.

It is the ultimate sacrifice and for that I am so grateful.

It’s easy to take for granted the everyday rights we have as individuals in this country.  It’s what we’re used to.  It’s what we know.  For that, we are oh so thankful.

As our national anthem played this morning, it was hard to stop the tears from flowing.   To sing those lyrics seem to hit me a bit harder every year.

In the Fox studios, we stood for our anthem and we acknowledged the two minutes of silence.  It’s hard to not feel emotional, realizing the impact this day has on so many.  To recognize all those who fought for us, and those that still fight to this day.  For those veterans who lived to tell the tale and deal with the repercussions.  The trauma that stays with them to this day.  I can’t imagine what they have seen and felt.  For those veterans – I say thank you.  From the bottom of my heart.

To those who have fought and lost their lives – may we never ever forget.  May we continue to share your stories, share your name, your history and your sacrifice.

We thank you and we remember.

Never forget.
