The View From Here – Happy New Year!
December 27, 2024 2:16 pmAs 2024 comes to a close and we get ready to close the chapter on this year and open a brand new chapter for 2025 – I have to ask you – “Do you make New Year Resolutions?”
If so – what are they? And do you have trouble keeping those resolutions? I know I do. I always start out with so much excitement for what’s to come. Eager. Ready to make changes big and small. It’s why I love this time of year – the “in between” holidays. Excitement builds for what’s to come in the new year. We reflect and look back on the year gone by. There’s usually a mix of good and bad, happy and sad. We had lots of change in our house this year with kids leaving home. Didn’t expect it to be at the same time -(gasp) so that was an adjustment. I’ve learned that I’m not very good at letting go of my kids. Letting go is hard on the heart. I already let go of one – and as much as I’m thrilled he’s doing well and living a life he loves – it’s still hard. Especially when the holidays roll around.
I’ve been inconsistent with my health and fitness and I want to do better in 2025 without pushing myself. I’ve been learning alot about hormones and perimenopause and menopause and how we have to adjust to the changes. Rest is encouraged. So is making peace with the past.
I want more time for the things I love to do – more reading (books and NOT social media posts – lol). I would love to make it through January without Facebook or social media. I realize I spend way too much time on it. I want more face to face conversations and less writing on someone’s “wall”. I want more walking in the great outdoors and hitting that 10,000 steps daily goal.
I also want to be more organized with my time (which might be helped by the avoiding social media, it really is such a time waster sometimes). I even bought myself a fancy new Happy Planner to help me get started. I love colouring and stickers, and journaling. It all comes together in a Happy Planner.
And scrapbooking! I love to scrapbook. I have a space at home dedicated to crafting and I really want to make time for that in 2025 so I can document memories. There is something about scrapbooking that I just love. Cutting and pasting, colouring, and stickers. All coming together to tell a story.
What are you goals for yourself for 2025? I would love to hear what you have planned. Maybe we can do a group together and help each other through it.
