The View From Here – How Y’All Doing?
April 11, 2025 11:58 amI think we need today to be a Feel Good Friday. We are just going to talk about things that are making us feel good, and things that are making us smile.
We’ll play some fun songs and I’d love to hear from you. What songs do you love to listen to when you’re feeling a bit stressed out, or overwhelmed, or generally “blah”?
Let me know. Text the A1 Security textline – 519-464-1999 or send me an email and I’ll do my best to get that on for you.
I listened to Duran Duran in the car this morning on my way to work. I put the windows down and felt the breeze on my face even if it was a bit cool. The sunshine sure feels good after so many cloudy, rainy, snowy days. It helped to boost my mood. Which is needed.
I’m still in my walking boot. I had hoped that I would have been able to put it away after my doctors visit – but I’ve got two more weeks. It’s hard to not feel discouraged. I’m ready to be back into my regular routine.
I had a conversation someone recently where we agreed that with all that is going on in the world – it feels similar to the pandemic. That feeling of uncertainty, heaviness.
When I have those days, and when it feels heavy – I go back. I go back to my favourite music. I go back to shows that make me laugh. Schitts Creek remains my go-to for when I just need to tune out the world and laugh. I love that journey for me. (smile). If you’ve watched the show, you’ll appreciate the reference. I go back to foods and meals that remind me of childhood, or my mom or grandparents. I often make myself a sugar sandwich when I’m feeling like I could use a lift. I know it’s weird. But have you ever tried one? (smile)
So as we get through today, and the days ahead – and if it feels heavy – I want to encourage you to keep taking care of yourself and going back to those things that help you feel good. Maybe go easy on the sugar sandwiches. (smile) Everything in moderation so they say.
I bought myself some Rolo’s the other day, after my doctors appointment. Rolo’s remind me of childhood. It was a comfort thing. Sometimes we just need the thing that reminds us of simpler days.
Maybe it’s music, or a tv show. Maybe it’s reading a good book or calling a friend. Maybe it’s going for a long walk or sitting under the bridges and watching the water.
Do the things that help you feel good.
Do the things that remind you of what matters.
I am looking forward to the weekend. Did you know there is a new record store in downtown Sarnia that is hosting Record Store Day tomorrow? S.W.O. Records. Fingers crossed they have the Duran Duran special Record Store Day release. I’m excited to try the new pancake house restaurant in Sarnia this weekend. Is there anything better than breakfast? I can’t wait.
Lots of other fun things to do this weekend – Easter in the Park in Corunna on Sunday. The Sarnia Pop Culture Show is happening as well on Sunday at the Point Edward Arena.
Check our events page on our website for the full list of fun things to do.
Happy Friday friends. And if you want to do something silly and fun — open up Chat GPT and ask it to make you into an action figure. Upload a picture.
Ask it to
“create an action figure of the person in this photo. The doll should be full figure and displayed in its original clear plastic box packaging. At the top of the box is the name of the toy “give it your own name here-“. In the packaging, next to the figure are the toy’s accessories including… ( you tell it what to include)
I know. Chat GPT kinds freaks me out too. And maybe I shouldn’t be sharing pictures and letting it get to know me. But look what it did.
