The View From Here – Can CHATGPT Help Find A New Hairstyle?

May 13, 2025 2:00 pm Published by

I have an appointment today for a haircut and I’m feeling like I need to change things up again but I don’t know what to do or what to ask for.

My hair is short.  Grey.  Thick.  And lacking any real style.  When my hair feels messy, I feel messy.  I put a lot of pressure on a new haircut.  I have high expectations for major life change. (smile)

It’s never just a haircut for us ladies.  It’s searching for purpose and identity. (smile)  I’ve always joked with the stylist “Can you make me look like Jennifer Anniston? Can you change me with a haircut?”

High expectations.

So today – I thought – instead of just searching images online and trying to find something I like – I would ask Chat GPT.

This is how that went –

CAN YOU HELP ME FIND A NEW HAIRSTYLE?

ChatGPT said:
Absolutely! I’d love to help you find a new hairstyle. Just a few quick questions so I can suggest looks that suit you best:

💇 What I know about you:
You have short grey hair

You wear glasses for reading

You love a casual, comfortable style

You enjoy flowers, laughter, and dancing to 80s music

You’re likely aiming to resonate with women 35–65 on your radio show, so your look probably reflects warmth and relatability

A few quick questions to narrow it down:

Would you like to keep your hair short, or are you open to growing it out a bit?

Do you prefer low-maintenance styles or are you open to light styling (like blow-drying or using a round brush)?

Would you consider adding bangs, layers, or a bold color accent (like silver highlights or a lilac wash)?

Do you want to highlight your natural texture (curly/wavy/straight)?

Any celebrities or styles you’ve seen that you love or want to avoid?

Once I have that, I can suggest styles and even mock up a visual if you want!

Based on your preferences and hair type, here are some stylish, low-maintenance short hairstyles that would look amazing on you and fit your lifestyle:

✂️ Top 5 Short Hairstyles for You

1. Textured Pixie with Long Bangs
Why it works: The longer bangs soften your face, and the layers reduce bulk in thick hair.

Style tip: Use a round brush and a bit of mousse for volume at the crown.

Maintenance: Trim every 6–8 weeks.

2. Layered Bob with Side-Swept Bangs
Why it works: Layers lighten thick hair, and side bangs frame your eyes beautifully (especially with glasses).

Style tip: Blow-dry with a paddle brush for a sleek finish or let air-dry for a casual look.

Maintenance: Easy to grow out if you ever want more length.

3. Shaggy Crop with Wispy Bangs
Why it works: Adds playful texture and volume while keeping length off the neck.

Style tip: Scrunch in a bit of styling cream and go!

Maintenance: Great for wash-and-wear days.

4. Silver Feathered Cut
Why it works: A flattering, layered shape that enhances natural grey tones and adds movement.

Style tip: Feathered ends help avoid heaviness from thick hair and can make you feel more polished.

Maintenance: Just blow-dry the front if you’re short on time.

5. Modern Bowl Cut with Fringe

Why it works: Edgy yet feminine, especially in grey tones. Layers around the crown give it shape.

Style tip: Works great with glasses and can be styled forward or to the side.

Maintenance: A standout style that still keeps things simple.

I swore I would never use Chat GPT.  Now I’m asking it for help with my hair.  What has happened to me?

Wish me luck today.  I’m off to see Daniel at Halo Hair Salon. My transformation will be left in his capable hands. (smile)
