Ladies – This One Is For You

Ladies – let’s chat about menopause.  Perimenopause.  Hormones.  And all that goes with this stage in life.

I like to think I’ve made it through a lot of tough stuff in my life.  I like to think I had “it” all together.  Until I hit 50 and everything seemed to unravel.  My own discoveries has led to doing a whole lot of learning about perimenopause and menopause.

It affects all of us.  Some are hit harder than others.  Yes, exercise and good nutrition can help.  Hormone therapy is a thing some people explore.  (I’m not there yet).  It sure helps to talk about it with others and try to figure out and make your way through all that comes with it.

But what really helps?  Laughing about it.  All of it.  The insomnia.  The weight gain.  The anxiety.  The mood swings.  The emotions.  The rage.

Meet Melani Sanders.  She started a movement online that went viral.  But not on purpose.  She was just going to the grocery store to pick up a few things, and when she was done, she got in the car, looked at what she was wearing and realized she truly didn’t care.

Which made her realize she didn’t care about a lot of things that once felt so important.  And in that moment in the grocery store parking lot, she pulled out her phone and recorded a video sharing her thoughts, and posted it on social media.

Not expecting it would resonate with so many other women and would go viral.  But it did.  And now those videos continue.  Each video she introduces viewers to the “We do not care club” and shares things she no longer cares about.  And encourages people to share in the comments things that they don’t care about.

People love it.  I love it.  So I wanted to share it with you – in case you needed the laugh.

She says “Perimenopause is something that is not discussed enough.”  And she hopes women feel less alone and understand what they are going through is valid.
