Something Surprising Happened This Weekend
October 6, 2025 2:09 pmWhen Taylor’s album came out on Friday I had no idea the power that would come from it. Seriously. We’ve had other Taylor Swift albums before. This one hit different. At least for me.
I allowed myself to get caught up in the excitement. In the countdowns.
I allowed myself time to listen to the full album in its entirety on the very first day. I didn’t skip tracks. I listened song by song as it was recorded and I LOVED it.
I got consumed with the online world of Taylor Swift. I watched so many videos and reels of Swifties sharing their excitement. Looking for easter eggs. Those hidden messages that Taylor Swift is known for and fans have come to expect. There are a few in the new video by the way. Look for a picture of Travis on the dressing room mirror and the hotel room number is 87. Plus, that is her soughdough that makes an appearance in the video (see below).
I bought a ticket for the show on Friday night and as I walked into the theatre, the environment was just different. There is no way to explain it other than so many fans, some in concert shirts, some in glitzy, glamourous, sequined, sparkly “costumes” all mingling together, sharing a moment in time to be remembered forever.
It was positive. It was light.
I sat next to a small group of women who had seen Taylor on her “Era’s Tour” in Vancouver. When they asked if I had seen her, I told them honestly that I was new to this whole “movement” and they welcomed me with excitement. They gushed about Taylor and how much good she does for the world and for her fans. How she stands up for people, for people’s rights and freedoms, she’s outspoken and not afraid to be loud when she needs.
A super kind little boy was handing out friendship bracelets. When he asked me to trade, I had to tell him I have no friendship bracelets, and he gave me two.
The mood in the theatre was just so positive and friendly, and the energy was unmatched to anything I had ever experienced.
I’ve been listening to the album on repeat all weekend. There are a few favourite songs, but honestly, I love them all.
I’m as surprised as you to be honest. So I guess I’m in my Taylor Swift era. I’m not afraid to say “I”m a Swiftie now!”.
I’ve got my friendship bracelets, and I even took a stab at making my own sourdough starter last night. I named her “Ophelia” as a joke to whether or not she’ll survive. I will keep you updated on the “fate of Ophelia”. Fingers crossed.
Being part of the life of Swifties is exactly what I needed for this point in my terrible 50’s/ pretty sure I’m in perimenopause stage in life. (smile) I don’t know about you, but I’m looking for positivity and joy right now and trying my best to not get sucked up in the negative.
So I’m here for it.
