Did You Get “Fooled” Today?

April 1, 2026 2:01 pm Published by

Do you know that nobody seems to know where this whole idea of fooling people started? Nobody knows where April Fools’ Day originated. The most popular theory goes back to France in the 1500s, when New Year’s moved from spring to January 1. Some people didn’t get the memo, kept celebrating in April and got labeled “April fools”. Others say it goes back to ancient rome, where people held wild spring festivals full of disguises and practical jokes. Even writing that makes me think I’m being fooled right now into believing that is even true. Either way, nobody seems to know why we celebrate or where it started.

It’s only fitting the word of the day from Merriam-Webster dictionary – is “Shenanigans” – described as an activity or behavior that is not honest or proper.

Not sure if you heard it this morning, but Sarah and Hilary got us with the Diapers for Ducks commercial. There was a website and everything.

There was some good ones locally —

The Township of Plympton-Wyoming had us believing there were going to be koi ponds in the potholes.

“Important Municipal Update:

After careful consideration, the Municipality will be replacing all potholes with decorative koi ponds to improve both road conditions and community aesthetics.

Residents are reminded not to feed the fish and to use extra caution on their morning commute.”

Sipkens were posting about donut seeds which was hilarious.

“Exclusively at Sipkens!!!  We finally got our hands on some Donut Seeds

EASY TO GROW. FUN TO EAT.
1. Place seeds gently into well drained, “sprinkle soil”.
2. Water lightly with milk (chocolate milk for extra flavour)
3. Place in the sunny spot- donuts love mornings almost as much as you do.
4. Be patient… good things (and good donuts) take time.

GROWING TIPS: for best results, whisper sweet things to your plant daily. Pairs well with coffee plants & bacon shrubs. Protect from cookie monsters and midnight snackers.

HARVESTING: when donuts are golden and perfectly puffed, simply pick and enjoy! No baking required.

WARNING: may attract friends, neighbors, and anyone with a sweet tooth.

Today, we are handing out FREE seed packages. 1 per person. While supplies last.

Happy Growing and April Fool’s!
