Shania Twain Biopic In Development
June 8, 2026 5:33 amSony Pictures is developing a biopic about Shania Twain.
The 60-year-old singer will serve as producer for the movie, simply titled Shania.
Director Leah McKendrick’s background as a former pop singer-songwriter helped secure her the directing role.
The 39-year-old filmmaker previously helmed Scrambled in 2023 and has Netflix’s Voicemails For Isabelle releasing June 19th. McKendrick expressed her excitement on Instagram.
“Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom. This wild-hearted force of a woman means so much to me – and the world.”
While specific plot details remain undisclosed, Twain’s rise from Windsor to 1990s country stardom provides rich material.
Her hits include “Man! I Feel Like a Woman,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “You’re Still the One.” Twain releases her seventh album Little Miss Twain July 24th.
