“One World: Together At Home” Top 10 Performance Recap

Even if you live under a rock, you must have heard of this weekend’s virtual concert series brought together by Lady Gaga. This nearly 9-hour event raised millions of dollars all going towards the World Health Organization for COVID relief efforts.

The line-up itself was spectacular, with Gaga having secured all kinds of musicians from The Rolling Stones to Lizzo. On top of that, the event was hosted by perhaps the three biggest late night TV hosts, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert.

To top off the night, video messages were delivered by all kinds of stars,  including Beyoncé (swoon), David and Victoria Beckham, Amy Poehler, and many more.

If you missed the Saturday night event and want to review some of the highlights, check out our list of the Top 10 Performances:

  1. Lady Gaga, Céline Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lang Lang, John Legend – “The Prayer”

The last performance of the night really takes our top spot. With a collective performance with all of these powerhouses, how could it not?!

Also, can we talk about how crisp Celine Dion is sounding here?!

And we gotta give a little shout out to John Legend’s quarantine mustache.

2. Taylor Swift – “Soon You’ll Get Better”

I will fully admit that I ugly cried at this one.

This is extra emotional because this song was written by T Swift for her mom battling cancer. She had sworn to never perform this live, however she made an exception for this.

This even prompted Lady Gaga to thank Taylor for sharing something so moving and vulnerable with us all. We love artists supporting other artists!

3. The Rolling Stones – “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”

I was pretty bummed when I learned that The Rolling Stones was postponing their 2020 Tour that I had tickets to, but hey, what do you expect? These guys are each nearing 100 (kidding), we can’t risk harming our Stones!

I’ve gotta say, this was a nice make up.

Each member’s house looks exactly how you’d expect too!

4. Stevie Wonder – “Lean on Me” & “Love’s In Need of Love Today”

Not only were these songs fitting, but Stevie also performed these as a tribute to Bill Withers who passed away in March.

5.  Lizzo – “A Change is Gonna Come”

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, so I’m very touchy when it comes to other singers covering it.

I have to say, Lizzo nailed it! We knew she could sing, but those PIPES! Bring us to church girl.

6. John Legend & Sam Smith – “Stand By Me”

I have to admit that Sam Smith’s song featuring John Legend Lay Me Down gave me high expectations for this performance. Needless to say, they were met!

7. Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello – “What a Wonderful World”

We knew they were cozy and quarantined together but none of us could have prepared ourselves for a performance this beautiful.

8. Ellie Goulding – “Love Me Like You Do”

This may be the first time we’ve seen her perform since her fairytale wedding back last year. Highly anticipated, and wonderful!

9. Jack Johnson – “Better Together”

This is one of the greatest feel-good songs ever. In true Jack Johnson fashion, we get a lovely little performance from the front porch of his home, surrounded by plants and birds chirping.

How many of us can admit that we wish we were quarantined wherever he is?

10. Hozier & Maren Morris – “The Bones”

This is one we love to play on our station. These two are a vocal match made in heaven.

Now, can I ever pronounce Hozier’s name right? No.

Would I listen to him sing under just about any circumstance? Absolutely!
