Bowie Biopic “Stardust” First Trailer Out…And People Are Not Loving It

Since the extreme success of Bohemian Rhapsody, it seems that biopic announcements are popping up weekly. But this one has people saying, how dare you?

We learned that the David Bowie biopic Stardust would be coming to screens back in 2019.

Since the announcement, fans have been combative, pointing to the many instances when Bowie specified that he did not want a biopic made of him. Many saying “true fans would boycott the movie, and watch films he was in like Labyrinth, The Man Who Fell to Earth, or The Hunger.

The first official trailer was released yesterday, and even I have some problems with it. Check it out here:

For one: the trailer does not feature ANY music. Not even a guitar riff. It turns out that creators did not have the rights to his music. Bowie’s own son Duncan has also expressed that he doesn’t believe they’ll ever get the rights to it. He also revealed that this movie is being made against the entire family’s wishes… ick.

On top of that, the Bowie-cast “lookalike” does not bare much of a resemblance. Sorry Johnny Flynn, I’m just not seeing it. All I ask is for is the cheekbones? Is that too much?!

We do know that it seems to take place when he was 24 and not exactly a breakout star yet, but it appears to cover the part of his life where he transforms into Ziggy Stardust.
