Is Netflix’s Bridgerton Really THAT Good?

The time between Christmas and New Years always feels a little awkward, especially this year. With no real events to fill up the week, what else is there to do but dive head first into the newest trending show on Netflix?

A few nights ago I caught the preview of Shonda Rhimes’ newest endeavour and first production for her new deal with Netflix, Bridgerton. You can watch that here:

The show follows the plot of the infamous novel from 2000, The Duke and I. This is actually the first book of an 8-part series about the Bridgerton family alone. So if you finished all 8 episodes and need some more of this family or are looking for something to fill your down time, check out the books on the author’s site!

But I’m here to talk about the show, which I just happened to finish last night.

I could discuss the ins and outs of each episode with no end. But the just of this post is this:

  • If you are a fan of Shondaland… WATCH THIS SHOW.
  • If you are titillated by the 1800s England era… WATCH THIS SHOW.
  • If you like stories of two people struggling to overcome societal obstacles just to be together… WATCH THIS SHOW.
  • If you’d like to hear modern-day pop hits re-arranged to be string quartet bops (like Bad Guy by Billie Eilish or Girls Like You by Maroon 5)… WATCH THIS SHOW.
  • If you’re a fan of Gossip Girl but wish it was narrated by Julie Andrews… WATCH THIS SHOW.

I think you’re getting my point…which is to WATCH. THIS. SHOW.

So to answer my own question, YES. IT REALLY IS JUST THAT GOOD.

So far, there has been widespread praise for the series. It was actually reading the tweets under #Bridgerton that got me so interested.

Check out some of my favs:

To conclude, all I want to do is give it up for Shonda Rhimes! Plus add in a small request: you’ve given us 17+ seasons of Grey’s Anatomy…if you could direct that energy into giving us more episodes of this show, we’d be eternally grateful.
