Meghan & Harry Dropped Some Bombs During Oprah Interview

I was openly wishing that the Oprah tell-all interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry was going to be juicy, and boy, did my wishes come true.

It was an emotional two hours with many different tidbits of info on life in the Royal Family coming to light. Essentially, none of them were positive.

Below you can find some of the highlights + some online feedback from the interview.

Meghan Was Severely Depressed While Working for Royal Family

A little over 30 minutes into the two hour special, Meghan hit us with a heavy piece of truth.

During the time of their early relationship and post-wedding (pre-baby), Meghan was heavily scrutinized by the British press. To no surprise, she was brutally criticized for things that other Royal members were not. For example:

The slander was constant, and she also shared that after marrying she felt very isolated and lonely. At one point she said that she “left the house twice in four months.”

Before Archie was born, she says her mental health was at its worst.

She reached out to senior members of “The Firm”, only to be told that seeking any professional help wouldn’t look good for the family.

P.S. According to Marie Claire, “the phrase ‘the firm’ is  used to mean two things: The royal family as a brand that is worth billions in assets and to the British economy; The specific members of the royal family whose job it is to make sure the brand remains strong.”

There Were Concerns Over “How Dark [Archie’s] Skin Would Be”

This statement made Oprah do a double take.

Meghan revealed that before Archie was born (and likely before her and Harry even conceived), members of the family approached Harry multiple times with “conversations and concerns  about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.

Meghan didn’t feel it was appropriate to share who this was, and when Harry joined the conversation and was questioned he confirmed that the conversations happened but denied to say who it was, saying that “it would be very damaging to them.”

People on Twitter have some theories about this one:

Harry Is Still “Tight” With Queen, But Not With Father or Brother

I was surprised to hear all the kind words coming from both Meghan and Harry about Queen Elizabeth.

Meghan practically kicked off the interview by saying that the Queen was very welcoming to her and she felt very comfortable in her prescence.

Harry also shared that he and his grandmother remain “tight” and that he’ll always have immense respect for her.

However, he sort of dropped a doozy when he said that in the midst of it all, Prince Charles hadn’t been taking his calls.

He said, quote, “there’s a lot to work through.”

As for his brother, the sentiment is the same.

To me, the biggest bomb came from Harry at the very end, in which he said “I was trapped, but I didn’t know I was trapped.  Trapped within the system.  My father and my brother, they are trapped.  They don’t get to leave.  And I have huge compassion for that.”

Oprah said what I think we were all thinking too:

They Revealed The Gender Of Baby #2!

I was pleased to hear that they would be sharing that info in this interview.

And I was even more pleased to hear that it’s a girl!

Both seem ecstatic about the news, with Harry expressing to be having one of each is a blessing, but this will likely be it for them.

All in all, it was totally worth staying up late to watch. It seems that the entire world is rooting for their happiness (except the Royal Family’s PR team, of course).
