Some ‘Back To School’ Tips From Around The Internet
August 16, 2022 8:11 amThis is a scary time, man. Sending your kids off to school. To school?? All day??? Yeah it’s that time, and if you’ve done it before I applaud you because I don’t know how you do it.
Thinking about my girl being gone all day is, I’ll be honest, completely terrifying to me. But here we are. Everyone does it, kids love school, and thankfully the internet is filled with tips for anxious parents like me (and you?)
I’ve looked around at dozens of these lists, here are some tips that actually seem to make the most sense:
1. START YOUR SCHOOL SLEEP ROUTINE
This is smart. If your kids have been staying up until midnight and sleeping until noon, better start thinking about switching back to reality
2. CREATE A CHECKLIST FOR YOUR CHILD
Get dressed, eat breakfast, put your lunch box in your backpack, brush your teeth. Maybe it’s feed the dog or make their bed. Something to give them a jumpstart to the day.
3. PLAN THOSE MEALS AHEAD OF TIME
Most parents say one of the most stressful parts of back to school is packing lunches everyday. The easiest formula I’ve seen so far says to simply include a piece of fresh fruit and/or vegetables, a piece of lean protein and some dairy.
4. DO A DRY-RUN A FEW DAYS BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS
I like this one too, especially if it’s your first time at a new school. See how long it takes to walk there, let your kids walk up to the front door of the school, check out the bus stop, etc.
5. HAIRCUTS / DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS
If you haven’t noticed yet you probably will soon… these places are going to be busy! If you can get in now for your appointments instead of waiting until the last minute, DOOOOO it.
Of course there are hundreds and hundreds of others, if you’ve got some you’d like to share with me just sent them my way. And good luck one and all, let’s remember that this is also supposed to be FUN! (yeah, we’ll see about that. I’ll check in after the first week and see if any of this stuff helped)
